WHY THE JEWS PLANNED TO KILL JESUS CHRIST The are five basic reasons on why the Jews planned to exterminate the life of Jesus Christ. These reasons are as follows: 1. THEY ENVY HIM: The Jews were jealous of Jesus Christ because of the wisdom, knowledge and power to perform miracles given to him by God. The following verses of the Bible had confirmed their envy against Jesus: - Mathew 27:18: "For he(Pontius Pilate) knew that for envy they had delivered him (to be crucified)". - Mark 6:2-4: " And when the sabbath day came, he began to teach in the synagogue; and many hearing him were astonished, saying, from whence hath this, man these thimgs? And what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is nt htis the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Jose and Judah and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, a prophet is nt without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house (Also Mathew 13:54-57 say the same thing). From d above verses, one can understand that the Jews were Jealous of Jesus because of the gift of wisdom, knowledge and power that were above them. In the same verse, Jesus called himself a prophet of God. 2. THEY CONSIDERED HIM TO BE A BLASPHEMER: Another possible reason why the Jews wanted to kill Jesus Christ was, they beleived him to be a blasphemer. The following verses have proved that: John 10:31-33: "Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him (to death)". Jesus answered them; many good works have I showed u from my father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him , saying, for a good work we stone u nt, being a man, makest thyself God". When Jesus made the allegorical statement, saying. " I and my father are one" in John 10:30, the Jews misunderstood him and thought he was either claimimg himself to be God or that he was equalising himself with God. Did Jesus nt also says in John 14:28 that; "for the father is greater than I"? Therefore, Jesus, was only, talking his oneness with God in the metaphorical sense just as he claimed to be one with his disciples and God in John 17:21-23 of the Bible. He was only talking about the unity of purpose and nt unity in power, knowledge and essence with God. But unfortunately, the Jews misunderstood his prophetic language and tried to apply the law of blasphemy in Leviticus 24:16 against Jesus. The law stated that " And he that blasphemed the name of the Lord, he should surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him; as well the stranger; as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemed the name of the Lord shall be put to death". (Leviticus 24:16). Are the Muslims and the Christians ready to apply this devine punishment against the blasphemers that live among them? Or do they have their law that supersedes the law of God in the Bible and the Glorious Quran? Are we doing justice to ourselves wen we reject the law of God, and abide by man-made law? 3. THEY CONSIDERED JESUS TO BE A FAKE PROPHET: The Jews believed Jesus to be a pretender, dreamer of dreams and an imposter. And the punishment for an imposter is death as clearly spelt out in their Bible in Deuteronomy 13:1-5: " and that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken to turn u away from d Lord your God....". Also, Deuteronomy 18:20 says: "But the prophet, who shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shl die". See also Jeremiah 14:15. 4. AN ACCURSE ONE: They called Jesus an accurse prophet and his punishment is death by hanging according to Deuteronomy 21:22-23 which says: " And if a man has committed a sin worthy of death, and he shall be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: His body shall not remain all night upon th tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day (for he that is hanged is accurse of God) that thy land be nt defiled, which the Lord thy God giveth you for an inheritance" Also in Mathew 26:66-67, the Bible says: " What think ye (we should do about Jesus)? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands". (How can Jesus be God when the Jews slapped him and spit on his face?) Also Paul said: "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, curse is every one that hangeth on tree" (Galatians 3:13 and acts of the Apostle 5:30). 5. Finally, the Jews also rejected Jesus Christ according to John 1:11: " He came to his own people and they received him not". The above reasons are the conclusive evidences on why the Jews had wanted to kill Jesus Christ through crucifixion method. Many prophets of God were killed and some were even crucified by the Jews before Jesus Christ was born according to the following verses of the Bible and the Quran: Mathew 23:34-35, Mathew 23:31, Acts 7:50-51, 2nd Chronicles 36:15-16, Mathew 23:37 and Surah 3:21. Why were these holy prophets of God killed by the Jews? Did they also died for their people? Did their blood wash away the sins of their people? The Jews were never tired of killing the prophets of God and other righteous men since time immemorial. It is their habit to kill and they enjoyed it even today.
