CD Review Time!
I'm not going to say how I feel right now, because feelings usually tend to spread and gives you sort-of like a bias before you listen to the CD, so I'll get to the technical stuff.
Lovesick, good news, only one ballad, which would be Sky Blue. But Sky Blue was pretty bad...xD; Very whiny. I want another Ai ga Yobu Hou e, or a Yuuhi to Hoshizora to Boku, you're NOT going to find it here.
I think if you liked "Bears," you will like this album. If you were in love with "Link," you will be dissapointed, because nothing on this album sounds like Link.
Everyone who was looking for a revival of older songs, you will probably be dissapointed as well. I was upset that none of the songs had a lower-pitched voice like Melissa/Agehachou/Push Play. I'm starting to think that tone of Akihito's voice is gone forever. None of the songs are really poppy like ThumpX, they're more rock-ish. If I HAD to compare it to an album, it would be Kumo Omo. But that doesn't mean they're super alike, it just means everything else is less like it. I think Porno Graffitti was at their best right after Tama left, but they're straying way too far from their old stuff, and they're not turning around.
Problems with this CD is that some songs are cheesy and/or had potential but have cheesy elements, some songs are flat, and some songs are good.
I LOVE Iron Hammer. It's a great song, everybody should listen to it first. It reminds me of a lonlier, more desolate version of Lack...but of course sounds nothing like it.
My 80s is probably the strangest song I have ever heard, but I love it. You have to listen to the whole song, he doesn't sing in that weird voice the whole time.
I think the best songs were Link, Iron Hammer, My 80s, #2, and Please Say Yes, Yes, Yes. Yes yes yes was most like ThumpX, but there was something I didn't like about it. Worst being The Rock Band Came, Walker, and Sky Blue.
But come on, you HAVE to congratulate the guys for working so hard! I mean, not even a year after their last album...that's nuts...
