LYON: Jurulatih Olympique Lyon, Claude Puel, berjanji akan memberi Liverpool peluang bersaing menyertai pasukannya ke peringkat kalah mati Liga Juara-Juara Eropah selepas keputusan seri 1-1 menyebabkan kelab English itu hampir tersingkir.

Liverpool hampir meraih kemenangan yang amat penting di Lyon apabila pemain gantian Ryan Babel membuka jaringan dengan rembatan dari 25 meter pada perlawanan kumpulan E itu.

Namun, penyerang Argentina, Lisandro Lopez memperoleh gol penyamaan untuk Lyon pada minit ke-90.

Liverpool kini perlu menang baki dua perlawanan dan berharap Fiorentina tercicir mata apabila bertemu Lyon yang sudah layak ke peringkat seterusnya untuk mengelak daripada tersingkir pada pusingan pertama.

Lyon mendahului Kumpula E dengan 10 mata daripada empat perlawanan diikuti Fiorentina (9), Liverpool (4) dan Debrecen (0).

Pengurus berbangsa Sepanyol itu berkata demikian selepas juara Perancis, Lyon mencuri keputusan seri 1-1 pada minit terakhir perlawanan mereka.

Liverpool kini mengharungi saat paling buruk sejak lebih 50 tahun lalu apabila hanya menang satu daripada lapan perlawanan mereka.
