Oguri, Mizushima star in Fuji TV cop drama
Tue, August 25, 2009 (12:51am EDT)
Fuji TV has unveiled its next Monday night drama series. Tentatively titled "Tokyo DOGS ~Saiaku de Saikou no Partner~," the show will feature popular actors Shun Oguri (26) and Hiro Mizushima (25) teaming up as police detectives.
"Tokyo DOGS" will be the first true police drama to air in Fuji TV's Monday 9:00pm time slot. This is also the first time for either actor to be cast in that time slot.
Oguri has the starring role as Sou Takakura, who witnessed his father's murder at a young age. Pledging to catch the killer, he grows up to become an elite cop in New York City, where the criminal lives. His character is cool-headed and disciplined, yet adapts well. His personality, interests, and investigation methods are completely mismatched with Oguri's, but the two somehow work together to crack the case they've been given.
Cast in the heroine role is Yuriko Yoshitaka (21), playing a mysterious woman who holds the key to the case, though she has lost part of her memory due to trauma. Her relationship to the two actors will also be one of the drama's key points.
"Tokyo DOGS" will premiere this October.

Actress Fujiwara Norika (38) has been busy getting herself back in the game
since her divorce from comedian Jinnai Takanori (36) in the spring. She recently
published some racy S&M themed photos, but we can assume that she will be dressed a
bit differently for an upcoming TV role announced yesterday. In her first TV drama
series appearance in two years she'll have the starring role as a gynecologist in
NTV's "Gyne - Sanfujinka no Onnatachi." The role is described as a serious, even
cold-hearted one, and Fujiwara is said to be getting into it. As part of her
preparation, she recently attended a birth by cesarean section. A producer of the
series said, "This could well be the role that defines her career." The strong cast
also includes Itaya Yuka (34, photo left), Matsushita Yuki (41, photo

Sunday 06th September, 03:00 AM JST
TOKYO —
Actress Juri Ueno recently promoted a series of five TV dramas she stars in
where the plotline in every case revolves around a bag. ‘‘I have great enthusiasm for
these dramas as I became involved in this project at an early stage...even before
shooting began,’’ Ueno told a recent promotional event in Tokyo for the drama series
called ‘‘Ueno Juri to Itsutsu no Kaban’’ (Juri Ueno and Five Bags).
Ueno said the directors and scriptwriters gave free rein to their imagination in
writing stories based on ‘‘Juri Ueno’’ and ‘‘bags.’’ She said the stories show just
what a wide variety of different situations the directors could conjure up just from
