Indeed the ancient Greeks had indepth dialectic of the word "love". More contemporary thoughts think that the 3 types of love need not be so distinct after all........a sign of changing times!
They also said love is a yearning/longing for something they lack. I agree that's the general idea. The Sufis also talk of that yearning when they talk of love. But then their object of love is the only One whom they believe can provide that majestic power of love they seek.
But when it comes to true love in the context I have used, I beckon Aristotle's statement, "True love is one soul existing in two bodies". The soul which is more related to intimate feelings, is perhaps the better word than spirit. The latter is that which activates the physical body and mental process.
Just thought that I might share this .....
Peeps? Oh, no.....Just someone who is seeking understanding 'cause she knows she lacks knowledge of many things.
