Setapak murder victim was shot 16 times

KUALA LUMPUR: A man was shot 16 times which led to his death in a gruesome incident near Setapak Central on Wednesday afternoon.

At 3.35pm, a male moneylender aged 43 and father of three, was driving along the road alone near the mall when four men on two motorcycles approached his car..

"They came when the victim's car was at the traffic light. One shooter went to the left and another to the right before both opened fire," said City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa at a press conference at the Setapak police station.

He added that the shooter on the right of the car fired about three to four shots whereas the other fired twelve, and that both bikes quickly fled shortly after.

Both shooters were riding pillion.

Investigations on the body showed wounds at the head, body and leg areas.

It is known that he was en route to meet a relative nearby

"Family members of the victim has confirmed his identity," said SAC Rusdi while adding that the police would withhold his identity from the press as of now.

When asked if the shooting was gang related SAC said "there is a possibility".

"We have early information on his background of being involved in gangs,"said SAC Rusdi.

He added that the victim had a previous arrest record in 2014 and that investigations will explore every avenue.

A post mortem would be conducted on the body.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif asked members of the public who were present at the time of the shooting to come forward to their nearest police station relay any information pertaining to the murder.

Makluman satu kejadian tembak di Hadapan Setapak Central, KL.

1. Jam 1545 hrs terima matlumat dari CCC KL ada satu kejadian tembak berlaku di Setapak Central dipersimpangan Jln Genting Klang.
2. Jam 1546 hrs DCC WM telah arahkan KL 464 pergi ke lokasi yg diarahkan.
3. Jam 1549 hrs KL 464 sampai lokasi arahan dan dapati 1 m/car jenis Honda Accord no. pendaftaran WD 1534 A telah ditembak dan mangsa tidak kenal pasti lagi. KL 464 telah memasang tali kuning.
4. Jam 1550 hrs telah menghubungi Gerakan Trafik untuk bantuan lalulintas Jam 1551 hrs DCC WM telah menghubungi CCC KL meminta bantuan Unit Forensik.
6. Jam 1552 hrs  DCC WM telah maklumkan pada I.O Bertugas Insp Eidil Fitri 016-2110140. Anggota cpj stp, cpj w/m sampai lokasi arahan.
7. Jam 1553 hrs Anggota Trafik sampai lokasi arahan.
8. Jam 1603 hrs KL 464 memaklumkan 1 L India umur 40 an telah mati ditembak.

12. Jam 1632 hrs WM 1 sampai lokasi kejadian.
13. Jam 1635 hrs Dato KPKL sampai lokasi kejadian
14. Jam 1730 hrs mayat dibawa ke HKL untuk dibedah siasat.
15. Jam 1740 hrs Dato KPKL dan KPD beredar dari  tempat kejadian.
16. Jam 1750 hrs kereta mangsa ditunda dan dibawa ke Balai Setapak.
17. Jam 1755 hrs keadaan lalulintas ditempat kejadian seperti biasa.
18. Matlumat pertama telah dibuat oleh Balai Setapak.

Kes telah disiasat : Asp Zulkifli Bajuri (SIO BSJD).
