2NE1, BigBang and other K-Pop Artists Invades German Magazine
19 August 2011

The german magazine “Popcorn” made a very special article about K-Pop and some of it’s most influential bands. This special includes JYJ,Big Bang,SHINee,f(x),Girls’ Generation and last but not the least, 2NE1

Check out the translation of the report and tell us about your opinion about it..

JYJ

Since they ve become fed up with their old group TVXQ (a cool K-Pop Group, formed in 2003), Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong got together as JYJ (refers to their surnames). The first Album The Beginning released on 2010 was a success in South Korea and Japan. One of their fans on the internet said: JYJ sing like three dark angels from a different world!
Currently they re planning a new tour and Germany-Dates are expected!

Big Bang

The boys from Big Bang are truly talented: They dance, rap, sing and do beatboxing. The group was formed in 2006 and have already released several albums ( Big Bang Vol. 1 , Remember ) and are very popular among Koreans. As one of the K-Acts they made it in Japan with their club-like rap songs (they also write English lyrics).
Now, Europe is waiting for them!

SHINee

A cool style, heart breaking songs and Kung-Fu-Choreographies the five member boy group SHINee from Seoul hit the bull s eye for the girls! Not only their emotional R&B songs (Debut LP ” The SHINee World” was was released in 2008 in Korea only) but also their style makes them to stars! Students in South Korea wear the SHINee Trend : Skinny Jeans, Platforms, Leather Jackets!
Their recent Album: Lucifer .

2NE1

At the moment, these girls are the hottest acts in South Korea their songs reach the first ranking in Korean Charts and their styling is cool: Sometimes 2NE1 (Pronounced as To Anyone !) is seen as Sexy mean-spirited ladies , sometimes as Crazy Warriors in a military-styling ! Their debut Album To Anyone (2010) has dance-tracks such as Go Away and cool Hip Hop and R&B songs. Now, Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas is taking them as producer under his wings.
They re planning to break through in the US.

f(x)

Make the test! Check out the music video of Pinocchio from f(x) on Youtube and you will definitely be captured: These five crazy girls perform this song (The sound is similar to Britney Spears songs!) in a crazy dream world. A colourful and endless maze for your minds! The group was formed in 2009 and, since then, they have had several hits in South Korea ( Nu ABO , Hot Summer ).
Their message is: Have fun!

SNSD

In 2007 the nine girls started their career with their hit song Into The New World today, they are among the super stars of their homeland, won several awards and are also popular in Japan. The girls (their flashy songs sound like a song for a washing agent commercial) perform interesting Live-Shows, go on stage as sexy Stewardess or as sexy bond girls.
Their recent Album: Girl’s Generation .

It made me proud again as a blackjack and a VIP because of their praises for 2NE1 and to Big Bang.Let’s wish 2NE1,Big Bang and all of the other artist in K-Pop to have more success.

ingat park tae hwan? korean national swimmer yg suka dara tu...?
he's back in an interview. notice the tv host.... donning her hair macam dara in I Am the Best. dulu pun gitu gak...masa interview tae hwan a few months ago she did 'dara's palm tree hair'. saje je tease...

btw, vid ni takde subtitle. so, i just get some raw translation from the youtube viewers and paste it here.

In the episode of MBC’s Section TV Entertainment News that airs on the 21st, Park Tae Hwan says, “When I won the gold medal at FINA World Championships Shanghai 2011, 2NE1’s Sandara Park sent me a text message. She said, ‘Tae Hwan Is The Best.’”
Previously, Park has revealed his ideal type as Sandara Park and had great time with her when Sandara Park appeared on KBS 2’s Kim Seung Woo’s Seungseungjanggu.

translation courtesy of ewwitsnikki...

As from what I could understand, the MC first asked Tae Hwan what's his and Dara's relationship (or something) and PTH asks something and the MC replies something like "I can't miss this" or something like that. Then the episode of Win Win with PTH ft. Dara appears. Then the 2nd question asks if they contact each other and stuff. PTH says something and the MC was like "Oh really?" then PTH says, "he's a shy 23 year old" --(or something like that)

Then on 0:23 it says "Sandara Park congratulating PTH for his gold medal" and PTH continued on by saying Dara texted him saying "Tae Hwan is the best" then he said that, that was all she said. The MC says Oh really? I see" On 0:34 it says on the screen "Who are you?" Then the MC talks about the the special gift that PTH received from Dara. PTH says that "I've been wanting to wear it out but because of the weight of it, it would sink if he wore it in water". --Then MC says "Of course"

MC then tells PTH to do a quick video message to his Dara nuna. PTH says he'll send her a certification shot once he gets the opportunity to wear the swimming cap that she made for him" then he goes saying "Hi nuna!" to end his message.
That's about everything I could understand. My Korean isn't that good so everything might not be exact, but it would be something like a rough translation of it until this video gets subbed Hope this helps!

Tae hwan said he was thankful to Dara's text message but "Tae Hwan is the best" was all that she said. :]
Hahaha he looked happy yet sad at the same time. Happy because she texted him and sad because he wished she messaged him something longer than "Tae Hwan is the best" lol!!!

2ne1 chael jal naga!!! of course we are expecting the best from 2ne1

Expectations are high for 2NE1’s first concertAugust 24, 2011 at 1:30 pm

2NE1, the girl group that set new bars by hitting number 1 with all 5 singles that they released this year, will hold their first concert since their debut. Their free-flowing performances and flashy outfits equipped with trendy music has built an expectation from music fans matched by no other with the arrival of their first concert.

With plans to debut in Japan in September, 2NE1 is busy preparing for the concert. Star News was able to take a sneak peak at their first 3-day long concert, “Nolza”.

As it is their first mega-scale concert since their debut, 2NE1 has been busy preparing through rehearsals. Although most concerts’ rehearsals usually begin 2 days before the concert date, 2NE1 has scheduled rehearsals a week before the concert date.
On August 24th, a staff member from YG Entertainment spoke with Star News and stated, “We rented out the concert venue for rehearsal so we could best match the same environment as the concert. The time invested in preparation is described by the members’ passion for the upcoming concert”.

The stage will have various colors to bring out the individualistic nature of 2NE1.
A large, vivid HD screen will be prepared for the audience seated farther away, and a T-shaped stage will be prepared for the audience to communicate the members of 2NE1 even closer, as well as a surprise event in the seats. Special outfits have been made and prepared as well.

But what the fans are most anxious for is 2NE1’s music.
The staff member continued, “Not to mention all of 2NE1’s hit songs throughout their career, never seen before individual performances from the members will also be showcased… There will also be a surprise performance to demonstrate 2NE1’s musical growth. This concert will prove 2NE1’s true worth”, promising expectations. However, the staff member didn’t divulge any specific details.

There will be delightful guest performers, too. YG Entertainment’s senior artists, G-Dragon and Taeyang of Big Bang, as well as Park Myung Soo, are set to appear to put on exciting performances. The hit collaboration song of G-Dragon and Park Myung Soo, “I Cheated“, from MBC’s “Infinity Challenge” will be performed at the concert. As both celebrities are busy with their schedules, it will be a rare stage where they will get to perform the song together.

Park Myung Soo will also put on a collaborative performance with Sandara Park. The two will be remixing the former collaborated song, “Naengmyun”, by SNSD’s Jessica and Park Myung Soo, and give it a Sandara Park flavor.
The three day concert will take place from August 26th to August 28th at the Olympic Hall in Seoul.

2NE1′s First Concert Gathers 2.2. Tons of Rice Wreaths
28 August 2011

Having started the first date for their three day concert yesterday, 2NE1 continues to be a hot topic online after their rice wreaths reached at least 2.2. tons.

To celebrate 2NE1′s concerts, close friends and fans of the group sent in their congratulory rice wreaths for the event. According to reports, the rice wreaths donated weighed a total of 2.2. tons and even gained more attention for having wreaths sent in by their international fans as well. There were rice wreaths sent by their fans from the United States, China, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Taiwan.

The number of international fansites supporting the event were also discussed online as the side entrance of the Olympic Hall were all packed with wreaths, which came from the site, 2NE1 Fans United. It is a fansite which gathered thousands of 2NE1′s fans that came from different countries all over the world.

2NE1, who passed by the venue on the 26th were surprised with the number of rice wreaths present and took photos of the gifts along the way. The 2.2 tons of rice collected at the event is said to be donated to a facility in which YG Entertainment and 2NE1 sponsors.

Just last night, 2NE1′ s Dara uploaded a photo of rice wreath given by her brother Thunder from MBLAQ. With the trend of giving rice wreaths to official events and then handed out to charity continues to be popular, JYJ’s Jaejoong and his fans still holds the record of donating the most rice wreaths (6.56 tons) from the press conference of “Protect The Boss.”

Meanwhile, 2NE1 continues their three day concert in South Korea, which is set to end tomorrow. What do you think of the fans’ gesture? Are you happy for international fansites to be included in this as well?

2NE1 is Popular Among Other Celebrities

* kelakar wang biho! i can imagine tahap meroyan dia lepas dengar Lonely

Skull, who is releasing a new EP called “Korean Reggae” from a long hiatus recently tweeted that he likes 2NE1.
He is regarded as one of the respected and noted reggae artists in Korea. He was also YG family! He was part of a reggae duo called Stony Skunk under YG Entertainment with none other than E. Knock (KUSH) who produced many of 2NE1′s songs such as Stay Together, I Don’t Care, In the Club, It Hurts, Clap Your Hands and Don’t Stop the Music.

More and more celebrities are showing their interest in 2NE1, especially to their new single, Lonely. Jay Park is on example. Not only did he tweet about it, he also claimed that the Korean music industry today is so dynamic, that any one who is not 2NE1 will have trouble surviving. He even sang part of Lonely in his recent fanmeet! Next up is Baek Chan of 8eight who praised not only 2NE1 but also the producer of the song, Teddy! Wang Biho (comedian Yoon Hyung Bin) also tweeted his confusion as to how 2NE1 can sing that song so well. And of course can we forget the ultimate fangirl Cinderella’s sister (actress Moon Geun Young) who has professed her love for 2NE1 multiple times, may it me through her Cyworld Mini Homepage background music, or through an interview. Even celebrities from different fields like the academe and sports show their support and admiration for these talented girls.

hehehe...academicians (professor) pun suke 2ne1

2NE1 has caught the attention of many celebrities not only in the entertainment world but also in other areas. Despite entering the music industry labeled as an Idol Group, 2NE1, much like their labelmates Big Bang, has defied the stereotype and went on to perform music that is not only loved by the general public, but also by critics and fellow artists. Let us hope that 2NE1 and the whole of YG Entertainment continue their focus on the quality and execution of the music they produce and release music that doesn’t only excite the mind but also touch the hearts of listeners the world over.

each and every one of them have very distinct and unique voice.
CL has a strong crispy vocal that execute energy;
bommie has a strong melodic vocal that gives sense of feminity to the song;
dara with her sweet vocals plays the main part as the bridge among the 3 powerful vocals;
minjy, in my opinion has the most stable and powerful vocal yet very soothing to the ears. damn! she's good, always
what more can i say, 2ne1 the best! kudos to the musicians as well. love, love, love the arrangement!

2NE1 Minzy: “I Learned What Love Is Through Our Concert”
31 August 2011

2NE1′s second mini-album has probably meant more to the girl group than being just another release. They promoted most of the songs from it including “Don’t Cry,” “Lonely,” “I am the Best,” “Hate You” and “Ugly” and all of them placed No. 1 on music charts. Hence their concert held in Seoul from August 26 to 28 marked the end, as well as the climax, to their record-breaking activities. Their concerts were sold out and 2NE1 poured their all into the two-hour long shows where they sang all of their songs. Below are excerpts from the press conference after the last show on the last day of their first-ever concert.

Q How does it feel having held your first concert since your debut?
CL: We worked on our weaknesses up until the last day of the concert by changing the order of our performances so we were extremely busy the whole time. That’s why I’m sad to see that it’s over but I’ve realized that concerts really are a lot of fun. Sandara was on the verge of crying before the first show. (laugh)
Sandara Park: I was so overcome with emotion that I choked up. And I don’t know why but I shed some tears as well. Today was the last day of our show as well as the last day we’re promoting our second album so I really choked up with emotion.
Minzy: Getting to communicate with many people through our shows was just great in itself and I felt a lot of energy. I think I learned what love is through our concert.

Q Love? (laughs)
Minzy: I think I came to feel what the love is between a fan and a singer by receiving the emotions they expressed toward me at the concert. (laugh)
CL: Although we’ve lost our voices and we had a tough time physically, we realized that a lot of people work really hard for the four of us. We’re very grateful about that and I think it’s important that we worked harder even because of that.

“I liked how we could look at each and everyone’s response.”

Q Now that you have experience preparing for concerts, what do you think is the difference between performing for those versus on television?
CL: We try to act as freely as we can when we’re on television but we have even more freedom for concerts. I realized that this is why singers want to sing.
Sandara Park: On music programs, you can’t help yourself from trying to look pretty all the time since you’re on camera. (laugh) But I liked our concert because I could just sing and jump about as I please. I thought I wouldn’t be able to jump about for two whole hours because I’m not strong enough to (laugh) but we managed to pull it off so I now know how important our fans’ energy is.

Q The Olympic Hall that you performed at is a medium-sized concert hall. Don’t you want to perform at a bigger venue?
CL: I personally think this it was the right size for us. I really liked how I could look at each and everyone’s response during the concert. I don’t think it would be good to perform at a venue that’s too big because the bigger the venue, the more difficult it gets to keep in tune with the audience and I’m sure the audience too are there to listen to us and feel our music. I think it worked for us perfectly.

Q What did your producer Yang Hyuk-suk say of your shows?
CL: We were very busy the first day because we changed about the order of our concert a lot but from the second day on, he told us we worked hard. Does that mean we did well? (laugh) So I told myself I’ll just have fun today. Plus Ji-yong (G-Dragon) came to our show all three days and Teddy came as well. We used to be the ones that go to watch other people’s concerts so it felt different seeing the YG Family come see our show.

Q Park Bom, your cellist sister participated in the concert as well.
Park Bom: This is the first time we did something like this and I was worried our performances wouldn’t go well together. But we ended up working well together and I personally think it was a good opportunity. I almost cried during our performance.

“We will update news on ourselves wherever we are.”

Q Your fans from overseas sent you 2.2 tons of rice ahead of your concert. Where do you plan to use it?
CL: We were told we could decide where to send it so we plan to donate it where it will be of most use after the four of us discuss on it.

Q You’re set to go to Japan after the concert, right?
CL: We’ll be releasing our first album in Japan and plan to hold a concert there as well which will be the exact same performance as this. This is the longest time since our debut that we’ve promoted an album and we performed all the songs from it at our concert. We also shot music videos for all of them. So as much as we’ve worked really busily, I’m happy because it feels like we’ve done a lot. We’ll probably start thinking of what to do next while taking a break.
Sandara Park: We will update news on ourselves wherever we are since I have a me2day account so I’d like to ask my fans to wait for us. (laugh) We’ll always act like we’re close by, even if we’re far away.

Q What’s your next goal now?
CL: We showed our fans many sides to us through this album so we’re worried they may be sick of what we do in our next album. That’s why we want to present them with a new type of shock next time we meet with them. That’s always our goal. To stun everyone. (laugh)

[Review] “Ugly” by 2NE1by Rowdyruff on August 31, 2011

It’s been a year of growth for 2NE1. They have accomplished a balance between musical presence and the electronica/club style they’ve developed over time. 2NE1’s identity is clear in their second mini-album and they’ve executed their strengths in ways that work flawlessly for them as a pop girl group.
This year, 2NE1 plowed through the summer with “I Am The Best” (Review), which not only brought back the kicking chaos they’re known for, but a not-so-obvious restrain on jarring vocal processing; it was Teddy’s addiction in 2010, but now, the auto-tune has been lessened to a mere additive detail (which is apparent once you reach the bonus track – “Don’t Stop The Music“).
2NE1 also showcased a fresher side; “Hate You” (Review) was calm, cool, and collected, while “Lonely” (Review) took the lead as one of 2NE1’s most memorable releases of the year with a refreshing, minimal arrangement. The last hoo-rah of their promotions this year is the lead single, “Ugly.”
====
A lot of the details I’ve grown to appreciate in “Ugly” unveiled themselves the more times I played it. The most obvious is the treatment on 2NE1’s vocals, and consequently, their delivery.
For instance, CL, who’s a fantastic rapper, is also a singer and I’m pleased by the way she was used here, albeit briefly. CL is quite the shouter, and while that may come with some negative connotation, I’m here to point out the appropriate use of this kind of voice. Considering the pop-rock style of this song, CL’s overbearing vocals were used in the chorus, which is the best place in this song to hear them.  She matches well with the energy of the song, while the other members bring it back during the verses and climax.
And what a climax. If there’s one song where Sandara truly shines, this is it. While she lacks depth as a singer, her voice lends itself really well to vocal processing. What Dara has going for her is color, and when Teddy sprinkles the right amount of treatment, she hovers all of a sudden, kind of like when you play a harmonic on a violin and you get this weird sensation there’s something floating above you. She’s kind of the halo of the group.
-
Aside from the nicest display of vocals I’ve heard from this group in a long time, “Ugly” also emphasizes a strong pop-rock style. 2NE1 haven’t really approached pop music from this angle, but as their first go with “Ugly”, it translates as believable and surprisingly honest. The arrangement works best throughout the verses, where it builds and blends well with 2NE1’s voices. Personally, I would have loved to hear a stronger use of the drum kit, especially near the end where a killer solo would have knocked this song out of the park, but I don’t expect a house like YG Entertainment to have a full understanding of rock on their first attempt with these ladies.
====
Though I’m not used to seeing (and hearing) 2NE1 display such a vulnerable image, it is the coherent ties between it and the musical delivery of “Ugly” that make sense in the end. 2NE1 aimed to strike a chord with their audience, and cheesy chorus aside, they’ve done so. “Ugly” is vibrant, semi-angsty, and has a clear direction. From Minzy’s graceful stanzas to Bom’s controlled overtones — 2NE1 are sounding better than ever. And this isn’t even a crazy uptempo track!

ok, dari sudut pandang i lak....my two cents...

i really, really love the review, but i'm kinda dissapointed with the rate. the reviewer pointed everything out flawlessly.
however, the rate is too low. personally, i would've rate UGLY 4.9/5.0.
yup, as a fan of course we're subjected to being biased, but in this case i think 2ne1 really deserve a 4.9.
UGLY is a beautiful song. the melody, the arrangement, the voice, the lyrics... it proves that 2ne1 is totally out of the idol league.

all in all i hope 2ne1 2nd mini album will win Best Mini Album of the Year 2011. they definitely deserve it! it's an all-kill album

A little info, Shou is the vocals of Japanese visual kei rock band Alice Nine. He was there earlier in Music Station when 2NE1 performed “I Am The Best”. Their group also performed (no, actually that is not Alice Nine, itu Golden Bomber ). After Music Station, he tweeted about 2NE1 and about Dara.
