Arashi member Ohno Satoshi (30) will star in a New Year’s drama special on Fuji TV, titled “Mou Yuukai Nante Shinai.” The drama is based on a popular novel by Higashigawa Tokuya, the same author who wrote the “Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de” novel that was adapted as a drama series (currently airing) starring fellow Arashi member Sakurai Sho (29).
Like “Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de,” the story combines comedy and mystery. Takahashi Katsumi plays the head of a rival organization who has fallen in love with Satsuki. Kitaoji Kinya plays Satsuki’s father and the head of the Hanazono clan.
Filming will start at the end of this month. The drama will be aired during the New Year period, but a specific time and date have not been announced.

Sakurai and Matsujun to guest star in Ohno’s upcoming drama
Sho Sakurai and Jun Matsumoto will not only guest in Satoshi Ohno’s upcoming drama, they will play characters they act in their own dramas, it was revealed on December 6, reports Oricon.
Representatives at Fuji TV, who are making Ohno’s New Year’s drama “もう誘拐なんてしない (Mou Yukai nante Shinai)”, announced Arashi’s Sakurai will reprise his role as butler-and-detective Kageyama from his current drama “謎解きはディナーのあとで (Nazo-toki wa Dinner no Atode)”, while Matsumoto will play his newbie detective character from his upcoming TV drama series “ラッキーセブン (Lucky Seven)”.
“It’s not like usual, it’s not very Arashi-like,” Matsumoto said.
The announcement was made at a press conference where all five Arashi members were promoting a New Year’s campaign for the TV company. It has been reported Sakurai said he had been given the script for the drama a few days ago, and was already excited to be part of the project.
“The first page had Ohno’s name, and then on the second page was Matsumoto’s and my name. It just made me happy that I carry it around with me every day,” he said.
On the other side though, a disapproving Kazunari Ninomiya and Masaki Aiba questioned their leader as to why they had not been invited.
“What about us, Ohno-kun? Not that I’m asking for a big part, but there’s still a chance if you’re still filming, right. Where are you filming it,” Aiba said.
“I haven’t gotten any invitations yet. I don’t mind going straight to the set to meet everyone either,” Ninomiya said.
“Not this time,” Ohno said, before the two tried comforting one another by saying they’d work harder on “VS Arashi”.

TV Tokyo’s animal variety show “Pet Daishuugou! Pochitama,” which was on the air from 2000 to 2010, will have its “Masao-kun ga Iku!!” segment turned into a theatrical film. The movie, titled “LOVE: Masao-kun ga Iku!,” will star SMAP member Katori Shingo, with Hirosue Ryoko as the female lead.
The movie is based on the life of comedian Matsumoto Hideki, who worked with the popular Labrador retriever Masao-kun before the dog died of cancer in 2006. Being used by Masao-kun, desperately trying to garner laughs from the audience, losing his comedy partner, and being dumped by his girlfriend whom he was living with, nothing seems to go right for Matsumoto.
One day, when Matsumoto gets injured on location, Masao-kun races to help him, and at that point he decides to form a duo with the dog. Things start going well for the show as they both rise in popularity. But one day, Masao-kun’s health turns poor, and he is diagnosed with illness. TOKIO member Kokubun Taichi to star in adaptation of Ototake Hirotada novel
Posted on December 1, 2011 by tokyograph
Ototake Hirotada’s 2010 novel “Daijoubu 3 Gumi” is getting a movie adaptation, starring TOKIO’s Kokubun Taichi (37). Kokubun has not starred in a movie since the award-winning “Shaberedomo Shaberedomo” in 2007.
Ototake is best known for his 1998 bestselling memoir “Gotai Fumanzoku” (published in English as “No One’s Perfect”). Based on Ototake’s own experiences as an elementary school teacher, “Daijoubu 3 Gumi” is a human drama set in the classroom. The story revolves around a rookie teacher named Akao Shinnosuke, who uses an electric wheelchair because he was born without arms and legs.
Ototake, who was born without limbs due to a congenital disorder known as tetra-amelia, will make his screen debut as Akao. A childhood friend named Shiraishi (Kokubun), a member of the board of education, helps him achieve his dream of becoming a teacher. Although the book was told from Ototake’s perspective, the story will be told from the perspective of Shiraishi, who works with Akao and experiences various challenges with him as they deal with a classroom of 28 fifth-grade students.
Yo Kimiko and Taguchi Tomorowo have also been cast. The 28 students were selected from an audition of about 300 children. It is said that in order to capture genuine reactions from the students, their first meeting with Ototake is being delayed as much as possible in the filming schedule.
Hiroki Ryuichi (“Keibetsu,” “Yomei Ikkagetsu no Hanayome”) is directing. Filming will take place in January and February of next year, and Toho plans to release the movie in 2013.
Ever since the publication of “Gotai Fumanzoku,” Ototake has worked in several jobs, including a newscaster and a sports journalist. He began working with Shinjuku’s board of education in 2005, and from 2007 he served as an elementary school teacher for 3 years.
