On Wednesday, NHK announced the hosts for the 62nd Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Arashi will be in charge of the White Team for the second year in a row, while actress Inoue Mao will take care of the Red Team. Announcer Abe Wataru will join them as a general host for his third consecutive year.
This is Inoue’s first time hosting a television show. She was chosen due to the success of the morning drama series “Ohisama,” just like Matsushita Nao was chosen as a host last year after her big break in the morning drama “Gegege no Nyoubou.”
It was announced earlier this month that the theme for this year’s Kouhaku Uta Gassen is “1231 Ashita wo Utaou,” and that AKB48 and Terry Ito are serving as the “support team.”
The 62nd Kouhaku Uta Gassen will take place from 7:15pm to 11:45pm on December 31.

Arashi gives 300 million yen to disaster relief efforts in northern Japan
On October 2nd, Arashi donated approximately 300 million yen to the disaster-stricken regions in northern Japan. About 50 million yen comprises the members’ total royalties received from the sale of the pocket edition of their book “Nippon no Arashi.” The remaining amount comes from the publisher’s revenues on the book and from the sale of goods at their charity event at Tokyo Dome in June.
“Nippon no Arashi” is a book created by Arashi’s members about local culture across Japan. The original edition was donated to elementary through high school students at about 40,000 schools nationwide in September of last year. The book’s popularity led to the general release of the pocket edition in June of this year, and it has sold approximately 420,000 copies since then.
Arashi split their donations between the Iwate, Mitagi, and Fukushima prefectures, with each one receiving about 100 million yen. The three prefectures were hit the hardest by the massive earthquake and tsunami that occurred this past March.
The members of Arashi plan to continue their support of the ongoing disaster relief efforts.
Arashi just released their newest single “Meikyuu Love Song” on the 2nd. It was also announced today that the group ranked #1 in Oricon’s annual “favorite artist ranking” for the second consecutive year.

V6's Sakamoto Masayuki dating Otsuka Chihiro?
Posted on November 13, 2011 by tokyograph
Sakamoto Masayuki (40) of V6 and young actress Otsuka Chihiro (25) appear to be in a romantic relationship. Unconfirmed reports say that their relationship began after they acted together in the “Zorro” musical from January to March earlier this year.
Sakamoto and Otsuka first met last fall at a press event for the musical. Sakamoto was cast as the hero Zorro, while Otsuka played the story’s heroine and love interest. The story involved singing duets with the two of them, as well as a kissing scene.
The pair apparently became close during the three months of performances, and it seems that they started dating in June. Otsuka has been seen going to V6 concerts and eating meals with Sakamoto as part of a group.
One source close to the couple says they are seriously dating, but it’s not yet at the stage of considering marriage. The source also says that Otsuka recently took up golf in order to match with Sakamoto’s interests.
Sakamoto was previously dating former Morning Musume member Nakazawa Yuko (38) for a long time until they broke up last year. Otsuka, on the other hand, was previously in a relationship with Nishikawa Takanori (T.M.Revolution) up until 2009.
