Nagasawa Masami, Okada Junichi play lead voices in Ghibli’s “Kokurikozaka Kara”
Studio Ghibli has announced its voice cast for its new feature film “Kokurikozaka Kara,” scheduled to open in theaters on July 16. Nagasawa Masami (23) has been cast as the main character, and V6 member Okada Junichi (30) has been cast as the main male character.
The movie is the second film directed by Miyazaki Hayao’s son Goro, who debuted with “Gedo Senki” (“Tales from Earthsea”). As reported last year, the movie is adapted from a shoujo manga of the same name by Takahashi Chizuru and Sayama Tetsuro.
The story takes place in 1963 Yokohama, where the Komatsuzaki family runs an old lodging house. Nagasawa will voice Komatsuzaki Umi, the family’s daughter. The film revolves around her everyday life at high school, particularly with another student named Kazama Shun (played by Okada), in whom she takes an interest.
Other characters are being voiced by Fubuki Jun (58), Takeshita Keiko (57), Naito Takashi (55), Kagawa Teruyuki (45), Ishida Yuriko (41), Omori Nao (39), and Kazama Shunsuke (27).

Domoto Koichi plans 4-month run for “Endless Shock” in 2012, expands to Fukuoka
Posted on May 16, 2011 by tokyograph
On Monday, Toho announced that KinKi Kids member Domoto Koichi (32) will be performing his “Endless SHOCK” musical for four consecutive months next year, between January and April 2012. Because the musical’s run was cut short this year by the Tohoku earthquake, Domoto stated that he wanted to make up for it.
Domoto first performed the musical in 2000 under the name “SHOCK.” The story revolves around an unknown group of actors who get a chance to produce a big Broadway show.
“SHOCK” has always been performed at the Imperial Garden Theater up until now, where it currently holds the record for most performances of a solo-starring show (currently 799 times). However, the 4-month run planned for 2012 will expand to Fukuoka as well. 34 performances are planned at the Hakata-za from January 7 to January 31, before the show moves back to the Imperial Garden Theater for 105 more performances between February 8 and April 30.
This will be the first time that “SHOCK” is performed for four consecutive months. It is also said that the last stage production to have such a long run was Mori Mitsuko’s “Hourouki” in 1999.
Back in July 2010, Johnny's Jimusho announced that performances were being planned for other areas in Japan, though it appears that it will only expand to Fukuoka this time. There were also plans to bring “SHOCK” to the United States someday, but no new information has been released since then.

Esumi Makiko, Ishihara Satomi, Inagaki Goro in drama series “Bull Doctor”
Esumi Makiko (44) is starring in her first drama series in four years. Titled “Bull Doctor,” the show has her playing a forensic doctor, while Ishihara Satomi (24) plays a police detective. The series also features SMAP member Inagaki Goro (37) as another forensic doctor who is dating Ishihara’s character.
Esumi’s character Tamami is the “bull doctor” of the show’s title, which comes from the word “bulldozer.” Ignoring any opposition from the people around her, she uses any means necessary to determine the truth behind the deaths of the bodies she examines. Because of her personality, she is constantly at odds with both Ishihara and Inagaki’s characters.
The screenplay is being written by Hashibe Atsuko, who also worked on hit dramas like “Freeter, Ie wo Kau,” “Boku no Ikiru Michi,” and “Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji.”
NTV will broadcast “Bull Doctor” on Wednesday nights at 10:00pm this summer, beginning in July.

Ninomiya Kazunari, Sasaki Nozomi rumored to be a couple (Updated)
The Nikkan Sports newspaper reported today that Arashi member Ninomiya Kazunari (27) and popular model Sasaki Nozomi (23) are in a serious relationship, though the story has not been confirmed by any official sources.
According to the newspaper, Ninomiya and Sasaki got to know each other in April 2010 when Sasaki made a guest appearance on Arashi’s show “Himitsu no Arashi-chan!” (TBS). It is said that they started truly dating that winter. Due to their popularity, they have avoided going out on dates in public, instead finding room in their busy schedules to spend time together at Sasaki’s apartment.
That apartment is in a high-class building with many celebrity residents. One of the building’s residents, who was not identified in the newspaper’s article, stated that Ninomiya has been seen there as much as twice a week. It is also said that Sasaki’s apartment is a 2LDK (2 bedrooms, living, and dining room) with an area of more than 100 square meters, plenty enough for even a whole family.
According to the newspaper’s sources, Sasaki has told close friends about the relationship, happily declaring that she and Ninomiya are “practically living together.”
So far, neither side has issued a comment on the matter.

Ninomiya Kazunari and Sasaki Nozomi are dating?
Nikkan Sports reported today that Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari and model/actress Sasaki Nozomi are in a serious relationship.
According to the article, the two became acquainted when Sasaki made an appearance on Arashi’s TV program “Himitsu no Arashi-chan” last spring. Sasaki had said of Ninomiya, “(He’s) bright, smart, and able to lighten the atmosphere. (I) only have a good impression.”
Ninomiya had said in a past magazine interview that his ideal type was “a hardworking and cute girl, in terms of both face and personality.” Sasaki had said at an event that her ideal type was someone “funny, kind, and I can be myself around.”
The two have been reportedly dating since last winter. Because of their careers, the two have been spending time in Sasaki’s home rather than going out on dates in public. A neighbor living in Sasaki’s mansion revealed, “I see Ninomiya-san twice a week when it’s frequent.”
A friend of Sasaki said the model revealed that “(Ninomiya) is really kind” and that they “practically live together” because of frequent home dates.
If the rumor is true, the two would be a very high profile couple. At the moment, Ninomiya and Sasaki have not commented officially about their relationship.

SMAP plans concert in Beijing this September
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is currently in Japan, and on Saturday he met with boy band SMAP. Looking to improve relations between China and Japan, he asked the four members present (Katori Shingo, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Kimura Takuya, Nakai Masahiro) to sing a song for him, and they obliged with “Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana.” During the event, Wen revealed that SMAP plans to have a concert in China this summer.
According to Johnny's Jimusho, SMAP aims to hold a concert in Beijing on September 16. This will be their first concert in China, as long as it does not get canceled like their two previous attempts last year. They had been scheduled to perform at the Shanghai World Expo last June, but the show was canceled due to safety concerns. SMAP then planned for two shows at Shanghai Stadium in October, but those were canceled after the Senkaku fishing boat incident.

Wen meets SMAP; hopes friendship will bloom through songs
Sunday 22nd May, 08:25 AM JST
TOKYO —
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Japanese pop group SMAP on Saturday and expressed hope that their songs will help to bloom flowers of friendship between the two countries as they are scheduled to perform in China later this year.
SMAP sang their hit song, ‘‘Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana’’ (The only flower in the world), in Chinese during their meeting at a Tokyo hotel with the Chinese leader, who is in Japan for an annual trilateral summit that also involves South Korea.
‘‘I hope that your performance in China will plant seeds of friendship between China and Japan, and that they will bear beautiful flowers,’’ Wen told the five-member all-male group, which had to cancel their performances in China twice last year.
The group is scheduled to hold its first overseas concert in Beijing on Sept 16, according to its management firm Johnny & Associates.
Group leader Masahiro Nakai told reporters after meeting with Wen, ‘‘It was regrettable (that we had to cancel our performance twice). We have strongly wanted to do our first show overseas in China.’‘
The group canceled an event at the Shanghai World Expo last June due to safety concerns about the venue as well as a live show in Shanghai in October as Japan-China relations deteriorated after a Chinese fishing boat collided with Japanese patrol ships off the disputed Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea.
