Check out Kim So Eun interview with 10Asia which was featured in January issue.
- My name is Kim So Eun. This is my real name thatmy father gave me. I think he chose this name more for the way it’spronounced, rather than for the meaning behind it.
- 6 September 1989 is my birthday. I will turn 21 this year. (T/N: She says 21 because she’s using the Korean way of counting your age.)
- Even though I’m already 20, I don’t feel unhappywith juvenile or teenage roles. As I grow older, I wouldn’t be able toact in these roles even if I want to, so I think it would be good totake on these roles while I still can.
- I have a sister younger than me by 4 years. She used to hope I would appear more on TV, but I think her attitude has changed recently. (laughs)
- Honestly, I never thought I would become such an“issue” and receive so much love from viewers. I’m really thankful foreveryone’s interest in me, so much so that even though I don’t eat muchthese days, I feel “full” (from all the viewers’ love). Even though mybody is tired, my heart still feels happy and fortunate.
- I’ve heard of the ‘Boys Over Flowers’ manga, but I only read it when I got casted for the drama.
- Jan Di is hotheaded and acts rashly, while Ga Eulis someone a little more mature. Even though these two characters arefriends well-matched in appearance, in reality Goo Hye Sun who acts asJan Di, is 5 years older than me.
- I tend to follow the director’s instructions. Ihad a really hard time trying to understand my character in the movie‘Two People’ (2004), especially since we did not film the movie insequence. During that time, I talked a lot to the director, and triedmy best to follow his direction.
- ‘Empress Chun Chu’ director Shin Chang Seok is an“atmosphere maker”. He’s not someone who gives off an overpoweringsense of authority, but someone who tries to make actors &actresses feel comfortable and at ease, and makes the atmosphere on setenjoyable. He also has a special way of signalling “OK” when ending afilm shot. I can even imitate his voice when he does that. (laughs)
- I spent 3 months at an action school learninghorse-riding, archery and sword-fighting, before starting filming. Inthe beginning, it was tough physically, but I’m used to it now. Ithought that the more challenging the training was, the more it wouldhelp me to express my charisma naturally on screen.
- I’ve always been rather good at sports. I enjoyskiing during the winter season. When I was in high school, I once tookgolf lessons, and quickly got interested in golf then.
- I call Chae Si Ra sunbae “unnie.” In thebeginning, I would call her “sunbae-nim”, but Si Ra unnie told me tocall her “unnie” comfortably. She also advises me a lot on acting.
- I have become close to the teenage actors/actresses in the same production. EunBin who acts as Hwang Bo Seol, is the same age as my sister, and I feellike she’s my real sister too. I also behave like real siblings withWoo Hyuk oppa, who acts as Wang Chi in the drama. Even the rest of thepeople on set think we’re like real siblings too.
- I don’t think it’s uncomfortable acting with so many seniors in sageuk (historical) dramas,and in fact there are many advantages to working with them. I’ve notonly learned about acting from them, but also about many things otherthan acting. They teach me when there are difficult words in the scriptI don’t understand, and I’ve also learned a lot from them aboutetiquette. I’ve heard frequently that it’s important to greet peopleproperly.
- When my busy schedule ends, I want to go on a holiday.I’ve been to Japan before with my friends, and I’ll like to revisitthose places and good memories. About New Caledonia… I think I’ll turnthat down. (laughs) It’s because I had a difficult time filming onlocation (then).

Kim Bum & Kim So Eun were voted as ‘The Most Matching Star Couple’ by the overseas audiences
ArirangTV ‘Showbiz Extra’ carried out this overseas audience survey in themidst of celebrating it 1,000 episodes on the 22 July. According to thesurvey, Kim Bum and Kim So Eun ranked the first place in ‘The MostMatching Star Couple’. The survey targeted more than 3,000 spectatorsfrom more than 60 countries. Including countries like Philippines,Vietnam and Singapore.
Coming in the second place wasRain and Song Hye Gyo in Korean TV drama ‘Full House’. The third couplewas the Lee Min Ho and Goo Hye Sun in Korean TV drama ‘Boys BeforeFlowers’.
On the other hand, Hero from DBSK was voted andranked in the first place in the survey ‘The Most Wanted Star To Go OnA Date With’. Beginning of this year, Hero was being voted as ‘TheAsia’s Top Ten Handsome Man’ by the one the China satellite TV station.Following by are Lee Min Ho, Kim Hyun Joong and Kim Bum who are rankedNo 2, 3 and 4 respectively in the survey.

Onthe 5th of August at 8pm, through the Mnet Wide Entertainment Newslivebroadcast, the 20 award categories and nominees for 2009 Mnet20'sChoice (which will be held for the third time) were revealed.
The2009 Mnet 20's Choice, which will be held on the 28th of August,isKorea's summer pop culture award ceremony where the real cultureiconsamong hot trendsetters will be chosen by people in their 20's.
Differentfrom normal award ceremonies, there will be a blue carpet atthe Mnet20's Choice, exceptional performances, and a voting which willfocus onthe 20's; and with the introduction of many new awardcategories, theevent got praises like "An up-to-date and revolutionaryconcept," whichresulted in showing off their sensational lineup ofaward categoriesand nominees which you won't be able to see at otheraward ceremonies.
Theaward categories and nominees were chosen by reporters,magazineeditors, movie promoters, designers, people in charge ofclothingbrands, moderators of portal sites, operators of forums,universitystudents, 50 small-scale trend leaders and from a survey on ahomepagewhich only runs for people in their 20's. The data was alsobased offan offline survey and on-and-offline data.
