Aya Ueto to play criminal in new NHK drama series!
Aya Ueto (26) will star in a new NHK drama series in January 2013, it has been announced. The series, titled "Itsuka Hi no Ataru Basho de" (Someday, Somewhere Under the Sun), is an adaptation of the Asa Nonami (51) novel by the same name and its second installment, "Surechigau Senaka o".
Ueto will play the role of Hako Komoridani, a college student whose affair with a man she is helping become a top-ranking club host plunges her into debt. In order to solve her precarious financial situation, she begins seducing men into following her to love hotels where she then drugs and robs them.
Komoridani is eventually arrested and sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment. At the women's penitentiary, she meets Ayaka Eguchi (played by Naoko Iijima), a mother serving a 5-year sentence for the murder of her abusive husband, who is in fact covering for her son's crime. After their release, Komoridani becomes a dog wear designer while Eguchi finds work in a bakery.
The series will tell the story of a friendship between two self-reliant women carrying the burden of a past they want to bury who find support and encouragement from each other.
Commenting on the casting of Ueto, a production member explained, "She can handle this type of multidimensional role with a natural spiritedness. She is also the perfect fit for this character who has all these men wrapped around her finger. Her love life after being released from prison will be interesting to follow."
Filming began on May 17 in Tokyo. In a press statement, Ueto comments, "I want my portrayal of this woman who reintegrates society after having committed a crime and whose new-found interactions with the outside world help her grow as a person to be as real as possible." "Naoko is sweet and tough," Ueto said about her co-star. "She feels just like an older sister to me."
Other cast members include Takumi Saitoh (30), comedian Shūsuke Fukutoku (28), and Atsuko Asano (51). Singer-songwriter Yumi Matsutoya (58) will provide the theme song for the drama.

Ueto Aya and HIRO are officially married
On September 14th, actress Ueto Aya is celebrating her 27th birthday, but that almost fades into the background thanks to the announcement she made on the occasion. All the rumors about her and EXILE’s HIRO (43) have finally come to an end as they announced they have registered their marriage on the 14th.
They have yet to work out their plans and the date for their upcoming wedding reception, but there won’t be an official press conference or anything like that later today.
Ueto posted a handwritten note on her website thanking her fans for always supporting her and announcing her marriage. She seems to be very delighted to finally make the announcement, although she would have preferred to tell all her fans in person rather than releasing an open handwritten letter.
She wrote, “I cannot even express how grateful I am towards all of you for supporting me even through all the tough times. From the bottom of my heart, thank you… I’ll continue to work hard in order to live up to all the love I’m receiving and send more love to all of you.” She continued, “Is it ok that I, not just as Ueto Aya but as a woman, can experience happiness? I wouldn’t be happier if all of you could understand this and continue to cheer for me.”
HIRO also thanked his fans and explained that he wasn’t able to tell them sooner due to various reasons. He also seems to be very happy to finally let the cat out of the bag, writing, “I’ve always been running towards my dream with everything I’ve got and just like that I’ve already become 43 years old.”
He explained that turning 40 was a big turning point in his life, and he realized that, although EXILE, LDH, and his work are still important to him, he has to start thinking more about himself as a man. He has always been trying his best by himself and if it wasn’t for the smiling faces of his fans, he wouldn’t have been able to come this far. Of course, he will continue to work hard as a member of EXILE and EXILE TRIBE.

Ueto Aya is the CM Queen of 2012 in Kanto and Kansai, Takei Emi wins in Nagoya
On February 27, Video Research Ltd. once again released various statistics about the usage of commercials in 2012. As usual, they concentrated their analysis on the three main regions of Japan (Kanto, Kansai, and Nagoya) and the five main commercial networks.
The results show that the overall amount of commercials slightly increased again in all three regions compared to the previous year. Looking at both types of commercials, they noticed that spots that air in between programs have declined, but commercials that air during a program recorded a slight increase again. It was an expected change after the 2011 results that were greatly influenced by the Great Tohoku Earthquake.
Commercials related to communication and web services made it to the top in the Kanto region, but the biggest rise was once again recorded the by automobile commercials with at least 20% more exposure of general automobile commercials and at least 70% more exposure of light passenger car commercials in all three regions.
As for the image characters used in commercials, actress Ueto Aya was once again able to claim the top position in the Kanto and Kansai regions. It’s her 4th consecutive year on top for the Kansai region and her 2nd consecutive year for the Kanto region. The repeat of last year’s triple victory was smashed by fellow actress Takei Emi who took over the Nagoya region.
A huge boost was experienced by actress Gouriki Ayame who only ranked 388 and lower in the previous year, and now made it into the top 4 in all of the regions. As usual, the members of AKB48 are very present in commercials as well. The group can boast 8 members in the top 20 of Kanto and Kansai, and 7 members in the top 20 of Nagoya (still including Maeda Atsuko).
