11 Feb 2020: JFKL Musashi Event

JFKL Malaysia is having their Musashi Event. Enjoy the powerful style of playing, clear and sharp sound with sensitivity in expressing feelings in music.

The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur is inviting 4 award winning musicians from Japan; YAMANAKA Nobuto (Tsugaru-shamisen), KATANO Satoshi (Shinobue), TAKA and TSUKAMOTO Junya (Wadaiko) for “ MUSASHI: Music From The East”.

The band of four was specially formed for Brunei-Malaysia Concert tour in 2020 and will be travelling with a wide range of Japanese songs from traditional to contemporary while introducing their traditional Japanese music instruments. The musicians will be performing in REXKL on 11 February after “Japanese Language and Culture Festival in Brunei” from 8 to 9 February aiming to promote Japanese culture to the Bruneian people.

What is Miri AfroLatin Fiesta?
Miri AfroLatin Fiesta is a dance event that gathers International dance artists from USA, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Luxembourg, Kenya, Australia etc, who will organize Afro Latin dance workshops in Miri.

What is AfroLatin dance?
AfroLatin dances originated from African and Latin background such as Salsa, Semba, Bachata, Pachanga and Kizomba. These are social dances that you can dance alone, or as a couple and in a group. Bringing AfroLatin dances to Miri marks as one of our efforts to introduce them as a new fitness attraction for Miri community whilst exposing them to all other fitness modules that we already have.

Why Miri?
As the second largest city in Sarawak, Miri is starting to be recognized as an alternative getaway destination for tourists from all over the world. As the founder of La Danza Fitness & Dance Studio and the Organizer of the event, I travel frequently to attend International dance festivals and when asked where I am from, I will proudly say Miri, Borneo. Not having heard of Miri before, their curiosity of this coastal city sparks chains of questions. This easily inspired me to organize Miri AfroLatin Fiesta; an event that gathers people from all over the world while at the same time exposing them to the tourist’s attractions that we have to offer.

Miri is the main tourist gateway to Gunung Mulu National Park, Loagan Bunut National Park, Lambir Hills National Park, Niah National Park and Miri-Sibuti Coral Reef National Park. Miri is also the birthplace of the Malaysian petroleum industry. There are so many beautiful things about Miri that are hidden from the knowledge of the world.

May I ask forumers to continue to upload info on shows, traditional or otherwise, plays, dances, parades or any events that have arts, tradition, musics and cinematic values in here.

Any uploads with info and not just chit chats, will be given 10+, with posters and pics, will be given 20+ and with pics and essays can be considered for 30 to 50+.
