The latest news.....
Lee Byung Hun selected as image ambassador for Korea.
Lee Byung Hun, Kim Hee Sun and Bae Yong Jun selected as Korea official image ambassadors.
In an attempt to lure Asian tourists to Korea, KNTO (Korea National Tourist Organisation) will be using "Korea storm" stars in their promotion clips as model to attract tourists to Korea. The cultural Minister Mr. Lim Chang Dong will also be participating in the promotion clip.
According to KNTO recent survey on the popularity of Korean stars in Asian countries, each of the three stars enjoy immense popularity in three respective regions, Lee Byung Hun in South East Asian countries, Kim Hee Seon in China and Bae Yong Jun in Japan and hence they will respectively be appearing in promotion clips that will target the countries where they enjoy their popularity
Before the start of "2004 hanliiu tour", in Sept and Oct, KNTO had started survey with locals from Chinese speaking countries, relating to the prospective of Korea Storm and the results show that the major reasons going to Korea was to visit the Korea drama and films shooting locations. Hence, KNTO has decided to target their promotion strategy by fully utilizing the power of the actors/actresses.
This "Promote Korea" clip will have Korea Storm (hanliu) as it theme, and subdivided into three different chapters for Southeast Asia, China and Japan. And beginning next year January, these will be telecasted in the Asian countries, each chapter will has production costs of 300,000,000 Won, each will introduce the filming locations of popular K-dramas and movies in the tourist attraction over whole of Korea.
As in the previous promotion clip whereby ex President Kim Tae Jong was invited to be in the clip, President No Wu Hyan was also invited to make a special appearance, however due to the recent vote of confidence issues , this project has been delayed
From 29th Dec onwards Lee Byung Hun will embark on a 20 days shooting trip to Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries. Though the performance fee is not even one tenth of Lee's normal costs, on the basis that he is doing a duty for his country LBH gladly accepted the invitation. (makes you wonder just how much the Korean stars' professional fee really is?)
The commercial will have the storyboard whereby it will be a scene taken from an action drama, similar to LBH's drama "All in". In the CF, there will also be a foreign actor who will be participating. The whole CF will be as thrilling as a spy movie. Minister Lee Chang Dong will act in the role of a director who will appear at the end of the CF and shout "CUT"

Kim Hee Sun Lee Byung Hun Jang Dong Gun
Korea National Tourism Organization (President Keon Yoo) will be casting Hallyu stars (Lee Byeongheon, Jang Donggeon, Kim Huiseon, and Baby Vox) as the main models of next year's international tv advertisements. To be broadcast in Japan, China and Asia Oceania regions, these ads will be incorporating the hallyu factor with tourism to increase KNTO's image as a tourist country.
In the past couple years, the presidents of Korea - Daejung Kim and Moo-hyun Roh - have appeared in the tourism ads for Korea, drawing a good response. But for the year 2004, in coordination with the hallyu marketing theme, KNTO has decided to cast the most popular hallyu celebrities.
In the Japan edition, the most popular Korean celebrity in Japan will appear together with Japanese actress Yonekura Rhyko, the Korean Culture and Tourism Goodwill Ambassador. Together they will introduce Korea, a short trip across the sea.
In the ad for China, we will be able to see Kim Huiseon, Jang Donggeon and Baby Vox. The the dragons of a mural in Seoan of China fall into the charms of Korea and come alive to cross the sea to Korea.
Lee Byeong-heon, who appeared in "All In", has been cast for the Asia - Oceania ad. It will depict a hair-raising chase, only to find out it was part of the filming of a soap opera.

CAST:
Lee Byung-heon, Lee Mi-yeon, Lee Earl.
DIRECTOR:
Park Young-hun.
Having previously starred together in The Harmonium in My Memory, Lee Byung-heon and Lee Mi-yeon reunite for the stylish drama/suspense movie, Addicted. Lee Byung-heon plays Dae-jin, a handsome young man who lives with his older brother Ho-jin (Lee Earl) and his beautiful wife Eun-soo (Lee Mi-yeon). Eun-soo organizes concerts and events in the city while her devoted husband keeps their home and garden in order in between creating beautiful pieces of furniture in his artist抯 workshop. But younger brother Dae-jin shuns the work, love, and responsibility exhibited by his brother and sister-in-law, preferring to tinker with cars and race on a local track. His life seems carefree, if not exactly happy, as Dae-jin抯 indifferent demeanor is often frustrating to those around him in his lack of purpose. But fate takes an unexpected turn one day when Dae-jin and his brother experience separate, but simultaneous car crashes, a devastating double tragedy that leaves Dae-jin in coma. When Dae-jin awakes, Eun-soo brings her brother-in-law back home, where she has lived alone for the past year. As Dae-jin recuperates, his behavior begins to disturb Eun-soo. Dae-jin has now taken on the characteristics and mannerisms of his older brother, her husband Ho-jin. But even more disturbing is Dae-jin抯 eventual revelation that he is not Dae-jin at all, but in fact Eun-soo抯 husband Ho-jin, inexplicably existing in Dae-jin抯 body. And as far as Dae-jin/Ho-jin is concerned, he is just as much in love with his wife now as he was before the tragic double accident, and he has plenty of intimate details about their marriage to make a convincing case that he is Ho-jin, as he claims. How is Eun-soo to respond to her brother-in-law? Should she accept that he is suffering from a mental illness, or believe that the soul of the husband she loves is alive in Dae-jin抯 body?
In many films, a suspension of disbelief is necessary to enjoy the narrative without being annoyed. And in lighter dramas and romances, such as Ditto or Il Mare, to name a couple, going along with seemingly impossible details is made easier by the tone of the film. But in Addicted, the movie抯 central premise of souls switching places if given opportune timing is more difficult to accept, given the more serious feel of the film. Because most viewers know from the film抯 advertising that this soul-switching will take place, every piece of information that抯 fed to the viewer before the accidents - every gesture, every character detail, every phrase - seems forced and unnatural. As a viewer, you can feel the set-up, and the feeling isn抰 subtle, but more of a poking you on the shoulder to be sure to take notice of what抯 going on so you抣l "get it" in the second half of the movie. I found these contrived details annoying and distracting, and because of them, I had trouble getting into a flow with the narrative.
Despite problems with the script and pacing of the film, the actors do a fine job with the material they are given. The female lead, Lee Mi-yeon, does a great job of portraying the vivacious Eun-soo, bubbly and distracted to the point of even forgetting her own wedding anniversary. But it抯 Lee Byung-heon who really gives an outstanding performance, yet again. Although he doesn抰 reach any new levels of acting in his career (at one point his catatonic expression looked like it could have been from footage in JSA: Joint Security Area.), Lee Byung-heon adds another solid performance to his growing list of impressive performances. Even when the scenes fall into the overly-dramatic, the two leads keep things from getting too sappy by the grace of their screen presences. In what could easily be the most melodramatic scene of the movie, Lee Byung-heon and Lee Mi-yeon deliver a slow, steamy, emotional sex scene. Every touch, every glance, and every movement are portrayed as having the utmost emotional weight attached. But if any male fans of Lee Mi-yeon are hoping to get an eyeful of her, they抣l have to contend with the "well-placed arms syndrome," which will likely leave them complaining that the love scenes dragged on far too long. But the ladies who appreciate the sight of Lee Byung-heon抯 lovely backsides won抰 be complaining. ;)
Visually, Addicted is a very appealing film, with lots of splashes of bright reds and apple greens in the beautiful sets for the film. The bohemian charm of an artist抯 house came through quite well, with quirky details painted onto windows and furniture, and unique knickknacks placed throughout the property. Lots of nice touches of color are added to furniture and food, even if the details go a bit overboard at times. Those bright barn reds of the lawn furniture and the cute little decorations on the drinking glasses often leave the sets looking like ads for Pottery Barn.
Addicted is the latest in a string of Korean films to be slated for a Hollywood remake, yet to me, this film felt like a Hollywood flick to begin with. It had everything going for it except the script. Michael Petroni, scriptwriter for Ann Rice抯 Queen of the Damned will be adapting and directing the Hollywood version of this film, so it remains to be seen if any improvements are made in the script.

Bungee Jumping OF Their Own / Bungee Jumpreul Hada
Direction: Kim Dae seung
With Lee Byung hun, Lee Eun ju, Yae Hyun soo, Hong Csu hyun
Contents
No, the love at first sight does not give it. It is only one fairy tale. Of it, independently, the college students Suh are in-woo and into Tae hee convinced. Until the reality it a better one instructs: In the summer the large love comes - as sudden and abrupt as a violent heat thunderstorm. Already with the first meeting the two fall in love oh in such a way coolen young people into one another. "on eternal". The symbol of their eternally lasting love should be a common Bungee jump. Before it comes to it, must in-woo to the military. Tae hee wants to discharge it at the station, it does not emerge however not. He hears and sees never again something from it.
17 years later is in-woo university teacher. Although it is married and a family has, it cannot forget its first friend. There one is noticeable to it its student, who possesses the lighter, which he gave once Tae hee. Does this boy lead in-woo back to his large love?
Which begins as beautiful romance, ever more becomes a mysterioesen mystery, the Psychogramm of a passion. Is the love how strong? This question pulls the einfuehlsame Melodram through of the Korean director Kim Dae seung. Bungee Jumping of Their Own
Hmm......
SPOILER included
The film's quite nice, a bit slow with a surprise ending. First time saya tengok, versi tanpa sarikata BM atau English, baru-baru ni bila keluar vcd yang ada subs......beli lagi. Nasib baiklah vcd filem tak mahal macam vcd untuk drama.
All in all, I think the film is strictly for LBH's (and LEJ's) fans only. Kalau yang non-fans mungkin tak suka dengan jalan ceritanya, IMHO. |
