actually I'm a male (it's ok, upon seeing my nick most people in this forum use to think like you too)
regarding AP, last time I heard, the only people entitled to get it is only the first party (students or workers in oversea who study/work for at least 9 month)...if he/she is a third party (spouse or companion) than he/she is not entitled for it unlesss if got special previledge..
in your case I think there's still a chance...there's situation where my senior who used to bring back his car after finishing his undergraduate study at then came back again doing his master at same university in same country (which mean this is a second time he want to bring back a car)..so he try under his wife AP (who study at the same university but never brought any car after graduate).Took long process to convince he wife used to study there and never used her AP before..still he managed to bring it back.. |

You seems like a very nice guy. If there are more people like you in this world then there will be peace all over. Even in politics, we all need to remove the hatred within ourselves although we could have different opinions about certain issues. That is why not just in Malaysia, but other countries too - Burma and Thailand, unfortunately politic bring a lot of problems.
Back about cars and AP, for those who are thinkng about getting one it is cheaper to buy an Merc, or an Audi or a BMW or even a Porsche abroad. In Malaysia the price is exorbitant. I would be delighted to get two APs and l could get two cars home. As you said and l have been informed that couples are only allowed one AP with the exception that both husband and wife work abroad with different contract as Malaysian government servants then they are allowed two APs. In my case both my wife and l work for the British government. It is highly unlikely that we are allowed 2 APs. But l will make inquiries.

I dont think l can bring my car back to Malaysia, not till August 2008 the earliest. The rule also says that people will need in possession of a car by 9 months before they are entitled to ship it back. 9 months is quite a long time. If a woman is conceived, by the time of delivery, he can also bring his car home apart from a new baby. I would really have thought 6 months is just about right.
Anyway, rule is rule. I need to abide by it.

kat sini maintanence dia biasa je.. harga utk insurance keta mewah mcm nie depends on berapa lama owner pegang licence, berapa besar engin dan jenis keta mcmana. my husband has his licence years ago so harga insurance dia rendah je.. I pulak baru je ada licence about a year ago, so for a starter my insurance starting about 2700 pound a year n my roadtax about 215 for 12 months.. not bad la kan for Merc E Class 2008. Maintanence lain mcm Servis tu harga mcm harga keta lain je..
so kami wonder sebenarnya harga service, road tax atau insurance kat Mesia sama ke mcm kat sini? I mean to say..bukanlah kedekut atau berkira tp just wonder mcmana sistem kat Malaysia, itu saja. |

Bro, kat mesia byk tempat kau boleh antar utk servis merc. Aku mula2 dulu (selepas balik mesia), hantar Merc service kat C&C (sekali aje) selayang, for minor servis caj dia RM950. Lepas tu hantar kat Merc Millineum (ada byk cawangan dia ~ aku antar yg kat s.alam behampiran GSR tu) ~average charge dia around RM380.
Sekarang ni pakai new c class, lega tul coz hanya perlu servis setahun sekali aje, dah nak setahun pakai mileage baru 1000km. Ada dua tahun lagi free maintenance service ~ by Yanase ~
dengan penuh ikhlas aku menjawab soalan tahun lepas kau

aku pakai benz lama pun.. kos mentenen tak tinggi.. maybe part still murah.. ye lah 2nd punya part bersepah.. hafkat pun bersepah..
kat mesia ni roadtax je mahai.. insuran boleh tahan jugak..
tp mentenen bergantung harga part.. org kaya2 boleh la p cycle and cariage... tp bg org besa ni p milenium tu pun dah cukup bagus..

naik benz ni kalo tgk pomen tahu apa benda yg dia buat mmg tak risau.. tp aku cukup rimas tgk pomen cakap tau tapi time troubleshoot terhegeh2 mcm lembu nak mandi. |

not bad harga dia tu.. kat sini the cheapest utk service c class baru around 250 pound..
mmg pening gak sbb kat milage tu hari2 tunjuk berapa hari keta lewat diservices...

eh...kat UK kan 4 tahun warranty n 3 years free maintenance...c class baru baru setahun 3 bulan aje kuar, tak kan dah kena bayar Satu lagi...kat nipon servis interval bukan ikut milage tapi ikut tempoh...setahun sekali aje...kau pun boleh reset service interval tu from based on mileage to monthly. Aku teringat masa aku kat UK dulu...merc aku baru habis warranty...tetiba keluar icon enjin (selalunya problem sensor lah) pas tu kete tu vibrate sikit (biasalah kalu ada kuar icon tu, kete akan rasa vibrate tapi boleh bawak lagi). Aku buat appointment nagn merc dealer kul 9 pagi, and dekat pukul 1 baru kete siap. Masa menunggu tu aku dah terbayang berapa pound lah nak kena tu, so sementara menunggu aku dok belasah cofee bercawan2, fruits, dan juga biscuits yg dia letak kat atas table tu. Dalam hati aku berkata, kalu dia caj aku mahal pun nanti puas hati coz dapat belasah kopi, buah2an, and biskuit dia byk2. Bila dah siap staff service kete tu dtg kat aku...U car is ready sir...aku pun tanya...how much? dia jawab...it is free sir

iyer ke zzcbr? i think warranty tu mmg semua keta ada. tp service keta mcm check engine, minyak, tayar.. etc etc kena bayar gak... so far mmg semua keta kami kena bayar klau service samada keta tu merc atau tak.  |

untuk pengguna Merc kalau rasa nak baiki kete korang kat kedai Bumiputra ada satu kat Equine...
betul2 kat jejambat tuh...boss aku dulu slalu hantar merc dia kat situ.... |

meh aku cuba jawab pasal insurann lak. Asas penentuan premium insuran kat UK and kat mesia agak berbeza. Kalu kat UK, premium depends on your driving experience (tu sebab dia nak tengok dah berapa lama kita ada lesen), type of security level yg ada pada kete tu (for example, kete ada immobilizer ke tak etc), where you live (based on your post code) ~ kalu duduk kat kawasan yg crime rate tinggi, maka tinggilah premium (sebagai contoh, kalu you duduk kat Chapel Hill, Leeds, yorkshire yg mana kete kena pasang steering lock all the time...dah tentu premium insuran tinggi berbanding kalu you tinggi kat hamspire), type of car, and also gender. Kat malaysia, premium bergantung solely on the amount that you want to insure your car (lagi tinggi nilai yg diinsurankan, lagi besarlah premium yg kena bayar), and this is up to you. Kalu kete dah cash, you can buy a third party insurance (same as third party, theif and fire insurance in UK, but kat mesia hanya third party aje). You may also buy a comprehensive insurance based on the market value of the car. Kalu nak nilaikan bawah daripada market value pun tak apa, tapi kena ingat, kalu accident atau berlaku total lost, kau tak dapat lah claim in full. Tapi kalu masih ada utang kat bank, kenalah insure sekurang2nya to cover baki utang yg ada kat bank, dan bank selalunya aku minta supaya kete diinsurankan berdasarkan nilai pasaran. Yang penting, masa balik dari UK nanti jgn lupa bawak sekali insurance policy UK tu, so boleh sambung NCD kat Malaysia. |

I have actually responded to your message about 3-4 days ago, bila posting, message tak keluar so hopefully this time, it will come out in one piece.
Kereta kereta baru yang dibeli, l cannot speak for the rules that you have in Malaysia but l can only speak about some of the rules in the UK; they normally come with a 3 year warranty. Kalu engine rosak within this 3 years or if the car malfunction mechanically and if this cannot be repaired, the garage (tempat jual kereta) will have an obligation to replace it brand new. But depending on the place where you bought the car, the service can either come free or not. Some place offer one month insurance instead of free service. Some place will only offer free service if you take out a mercedex Benz Insurance which will be sky high. I would say the MB insurance is about 3-4 times dearer than my own current insurance.
Before the service is due, l also had the same opinion like you and l inquired with Mercedes Benz if the service is free and they said no, l had to pay so l hesitated until l came across a garage which was offering 50% discount + 10% off for new car on the A Stage Service (an A stage service is the first year service for a brand new car or 6000 miles whichever is first). Just like yours, our C Class only done about 1400 miles because we hardly drive it as we have another car for work and running about. The service was good and conform with MB requirement. But soon after l read your posting, l phoned MB again just to be sure and again they said service will need to be paid and they also mentioned that service can be free depending on the agreement between you and them at time of purchase.
Actually zzbr, when we bought the C class, it was reduced RM5,000 after we negotiated a cash payment. Maybe sebab itulah mereka tidak offer free service. But anyway thank you for your information. I am grateful for it.
Regarding insurance, rules dia sama dengan Malaysia. The longer you drive, the more NCB (No claim bonus) you have, address location, previous conviction semuanya adalah penentu mahal atau murah premium yang kita bayar.
