SM Entertainment: Record-Breaking Profits For the 1st Quarter of 2010

To say that SM Entertainment has been faring well would be an understatement. The financial statements are out for the first quarter of 2010 and the company recorded its highest quarterly profit to date: 22.7 billion won! This is a 58% increase from the same period last year. When boiling it down to revenue figures, the first quarter of 2010 saw 10.4 billion won which is a 471% increase from the revenue seen for the same period last year.
SM Entertainment said, "Big contributing factors for such high profits and revenue figures were the success of the Girls Generation's second album "Oh!" and the success of SM artists overseas -- such as other Asian countries -- which led to lots of incoming royalties."?
SM also revealed that many of its signed artists -- Super Junior, Super Junior-M, Girls Generation, SHINee, f(x) --are planning on releasing more albums all throughout Asia and on holding more concerts overseas. And thanks to the continuing advancement of technology which may soon bring about albums being released for smartphone use, SM expects continued success for the second quarter as well.

Asian pop sensation Super Junior has topped several album chartswith their fourth full-length album "BONAMANA," according to theiragency SM Entertainment on Tuesday.
A press from SM revealedthat the group conquered the weekly and daily album charts of musicdistributors Hanteo, Hot Tracks and Yes 24 since the release of"BONAMANA" Version A last Thursday.
Figures from Hanteoindicated that the record sold over 70,000 copies in just five days,becoming the album to sell the most number of copies in the shortesttime span so far this year.
The fourth full-length album hadracked up 200,000 preorders, another record for the 13-member boy bandwho had received up to 150,000 preorders for their previous top-sellingalbum.
Version B of "BONAMANA" will go on sale on May 20featuring behind-the-scene photos from the group's stage performancesand music video shoots.
The boys recently gave their comebackperformance on televised music programs last weekend singing the titledtrack "BONAMANA" and "Boom Boom."
They will be promoting thenew album with only ten members since members Kang-in is planning onentering the army to fulfill his mandatory two-year service, Kibum willbe focusing on his acting career and Hangeng is currently embroiled ina legal battle with SM.
Super Junior made their debut in 2005with their first album "SuperJunior05 (TWINS)" and have also releasedseveral other studio albums including "Don't Don" and "Sorry, Sorry"
