Schumi-Mercedes deal nearly done and dusted?
If reports are to be believed, then Michael Schumacher and Mercedes GP fans are set to receive an early Christmas present this week.
Schumacher has been linked with a return to Formula One since early November when Mercedes decided to buy the majority stake in Brawn GP.
The German carmaker has promised to announce Nico Rosberg's team-mate before Christmas and it looks like they will be true to their word.
German daily Bild claims the deal between seven-times Schumacher and Mercedes is almost signed and sealed and it will be announced in the next week.
The paper reports that "the contract is ready to be signed" and that Schumacher has verbally agreed to the deal.
It also adds that the 40-year-old will sign a one-year contract worth in the region of ?7 million.
Schumacher and his spokesperson refused to comment about the report while Mercedes dished out the "there is always speculation as long as one seat in our team is not taken" comment.
Although the German signed a new three-year consultancy deal with Ferrari in September, the Italian outfit is unlikely to prevent him from joining Mercedes.

if schumi join mercedes..aku sokong mercedes Gp sebagai team utama.second baru Ferrari
tapi kena realitistik gak..aku setuju apa yg erdie irvine cakap..if dia race balik probably susah nak dia menang terutama saingan dgn driver muda yg ada advantage fizikal dan mental tapi aku rasa boleh naik podium satu atau dua kali(even bukan no 1) |

Secret test planned for Schumacher?
According to the latest rumours the Mercedes Grand Prix team andMichael Schumacher are planning a top secret test in the Middle East asa final test for the German before announcing his comeback in Formula1.
The Mercedes Grand Prix team is desperate to keep the event secret.Speculations suggest the test could take place at the Formula 1 GrandPrix track of Abu Dhabi or in Dubai. According to British newspaper TheMirror the German is likely to test a GP2 car as the team is notallowed to run a Formula 1 car as Formula 1 is banned from testing inthe winter months.
With the test Schumacher and Mercedes GrandPrix can test if the German's neck will hold. A neck injury stoppedMichael Schumacher from replacing Felipe Massa in the 2009 Formula 1season. |

Nigel Mansell backs Michael Schumacher to win again on return to F1
Michael Schumacher can still be a winner in Formula One even at the age of 41 if he makes a comeback with Mercedes next year, according to former champion Nigel Mansell.
"Age will not be a factor in Michael's story," Britain's 1992 champion told the Mail on Sunday newspaper.
"It wouldn't surprise me if Michael challenged for another world championship."
Schumacher, a seven-times champion and Formula One's most successful driver, retired in 2006 but has told his former Ferrari team that there is a "very, very, very strong possibility" of his racing for Mercedes in 2010.
Mercedes have taken over this year's title-winners Brawn GP, with Schumacher in line to replace Jenson Button after the world champion moved to McLaren. The German, who took his 91st race victory in China in 2006, will be 41 in January.
"It doesn't matter what age you are as long as you are professional, committed and focused," said Mansell, who won his title aged 39 and competed in Formula One until he was 41.
"People have written Michael off as over the hill, I look at it differently.
"Michael has tremendous experience and talent, and Mercedes will provide him with a fantastic package. He is extremely fit and we can take his commitment and professionalism for granted.
"For me there is no downside to this. He's won enough titles, so what does he have to worry about losing to anyone? It may take a few races to get to grips with his car, but after that it wouldn't surprise me if he was to challenge for his eighth title."
