Bosco Verticale: A Vertical Forest in Milan
Located in Milan, Italy, the Bosco Verticale is a remarkable residential complex composed of two buildings that stand out for their lush green facades, featuring around 800 trees, 5,000 shrubs, and 2,000 plants.
Spread across the balconies of the apartments, the rooftops, and common areas, this vegetation gives the buildings a stunning appearance, creating the impression of a true vertical forest nestled in the midst of the city, surrounded by other urban structures.
The project was developed by the architecture firm Boeri Studio and is an inspiring work, not only due to its visual appeal but also because of the quality of life it offers to its residents and visitors, as well as those in its surrounding areas.
Beyond the beautiful scenery, Bosco Verticale promotes biodiversity, contributing to the development of an urban ecosystem where a wide variety of plant species, in various sizes, create a vertical environment that, while not fully integrated with the existing ecosystem, interacts harmoniously with it. This allows the space to be used by birds and insects, fostering a balanced coexistence between nature and city life.
