Hajj free of epedimic and Quarantine diseases
2008-12-10 - SPA
Hajj free of epedimic and Quarantine diseases Mina, December 10 , SPA -- Minister of Health Dr. Hamad Almane' announced that the Hajj of this year 1429 H. was safe and free of epedimic and Quarantine diseases stating that all pilgrims are enjoying good health. The minister made the remarks in a press statement he delivered here this afternoon. The health minister said in the light of the reports submitted by the various local commissions and the field follow up of the health situation, he would like to announce that this year's Hajj season was free from epidemic and quarantine diseases. He attributed this good development to the grace of Almighty Allah and the wise directives of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince. He pointed out that the ministry of health has prepared a comprehensive preventive plan for prevention of epidemic quarantine diseases. The minister said the pilgrims are subject to examinations at the Kingdom's entry point to ensure that they are free from epidemic diseases.

Pilgrims can now document their Haj
Galal Fakkar | Arab News
MAKKAH: Pilgrims and visitors can document their trips to Haj through a special group that offers to photograph and record the experience.
Ali Hussein Sayrafi, a Saudi man in his 30s who is leading the team of Saudi and non-Saudi professional photographers in this project, said that the idea of this service came to him after he noticed that many pilgrims showed great interest in taking photographs of themselves near the Grand Mosque in Makkah and other religious sites.
"The shooting of video enables the pilgrims to clearly hear the background sound of people praying, which is an added value better than taking video on a cell phone," said Sayrafi.
Sayrafi said he documents the Haj trip in Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah and Makkah. He also takes videos of his customers visiting religious sites in Makkah, such as Jabal Al-Nur and Hira Cave as well as their visits to shopping places in Makkah. He said he also offers his service to shoot video of his customers in Madinah and in the Prophet's Mosque.
Sayrafi said he charges between SR3,000 and SR10,000 for this service.
“Most of the pilgrims who wanted to shoot videos in Makkah and Madinah are pilgrims from Arab, America and European countries,” he said. “Pilgrims from Iran, Egypt, Gulf countries, Pakistan and Malaysia are also interested in this service.”
Ahmad Reedi, a 45-year-old Egyptian professional photographer, said that documenting Haj is a modern service provided that interests many pilgrims who want to document day by day their lifetime journey.
“There are pilgrims who want to watch their trip after their return home or send part of it to their loved ones by computer,” he said. "I am sure that this business will flourish in the future Haj seasons."
He also predicted that a number of professional photographers will join this business. This business is likely to flourish in the future given that fact that its yields a very good income without any big investment.
“In one Haj season, a professional photographer may earn up to SR30,000," Reedi added.
Jamal Al-Shaweesh, a 40-year-old Palestinian photographer from the same team, who lives in the Kingdom, said that video recording starts with the arrival of pilgrims.
“I have visited many hotels in Makkah where pilgrims are staying and have discussed the idea with them. They liked it, especially those pilgrims staying in five-star hotels," he said.
He said many pilgrims wanted to start documenting their trip in Madinah. He said that he charges half of the money upfront and pilgrims also pay for his travel expenses. He said his video includes postproduction work that includes sub-titles in the video footage. |

Hajis stream out of Mina
Siraj Wahab | Arab News
WINDING DOWN: The faithful begin their slow trek back from Mina as they prepare to return home after completing the Haj rituals on Wednesday.
MINA: Millions of pilgrims — some in groups, others alone — hurled pebbles at all three wide walls that represent Satan at the Jamrat Bridge on the third day of the stoning ritual yesterday. The packed stoning took place for a third day without any incident at a site that has in the past been the scene of fatal stampedes.
The peak hours of the stoning were between noon and 5 p.m. Security personnel were seen manning the area near the Jamrat complex, guiding the pilgrims to move on with green signs pointing in the direction of the pedestrian traffic. Pilgrims seen turning around to go back were asked to abide by new regulations. This strict one-way traffic control clearly made this year’s Jamrat stoning one of the most organized.
Assisting from the clouds were Civil Defense and Saudi Air Force helicopters, whose personnel monitored the tide of pilgrims to spot bottlenecks or potential dangerous crowding conditions and maintaining communication with ground officers. Though the Jamrat stoning takes place over three days, some of the pilgrims who stayed back in Mina yesterday will repeat the ritual again today.
In the evening, hundreds of buses and cars streamed out of Mina and Makkah, packed with pilgrims heading home after what for many was a once-in-lifetime journey of faith. The devout traveled to Jeddah to catch flights back home or to the holy city of Madinah to offer prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque, the second holiest site in Islam. Others will linger and shop before leaving, or even sell wares that they brought with them. Still others won’t leave at all but rather disappear into the legions of overstayers working and living illegally in the Kingdom.
An overwhelming majority of pilgrims, however, came for one single spiritual mission, and for them this Haj has gone off without any major incident.
“Thank God, I completed the pilgrimage,” said Jan Muhammad, an Afghan pilgrim on his way out of Mina. “I hope I live long enough to come back here again.”
“I pray to God to give every Muslim a chance to do this,” said Indian pilgrim Abdul Rasheed. Kenyan Ahmed Abdul Hamed, who was on his second pilgrimage, said: “It has been a great religious experience for me. It gets better and better each time.”
This same sense of exuberance and fulfillment gripped many others. “I feel that I have been totally purified,” said Sameera Sajjadi from Iran. For Nadia Asghar of Mauritius the thought of leaving was hard to face. “We have almost finished the stoning and our group will be heading to Makkah to bid farewell to God’s House,” she said.
Kebanyakan Jemaah M'sia hari ni berangkat balik ke Makkah. Selepas Tawaf Haji dan Saie Haji dah habis semua rukun & wajib Haji. Penerbangan balik pertama akan bermula hujung minggu ni. Cepat je masa berlalu.
