Rajagopal leaves out seniors, opts for young players against Man Utd

PETALING JAYA: National skipper Mohd Shukor Adan and Red Giants’ striker Mohd Safee Sali are among the notable names left out from the national team for the match against Manchester United at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on July 18.
Also out is the Super League’s leading scorer Mohd Nizaruddin Yusop of Perlis, who has 15 goals to his credit.
National coach K. Rajagopal has opted for young blood and he has named only four senior players in his training squad of 28 to prepare for the date with the Red Devils.
The four seniors are Kelantan striker Indra Putra Mahayuddin, Selangor skipper Mohd Amri Yahyah, Kedah leftback V. Thirumurugan and KL PLus centreback Norhafiz Zamani Misbah.
“We need to give other players the chance and I am sure the seniors will understand the reason for me leaving them out,” said Rajagopal yesterday.
