Champions League Clash Will See Whole Of Italy Cheer For Chelsea, Not Inter - Carlo Ancelotti
'Carletto' turns up the heat ahead of blockbuster Champions League clash...
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has taken a swipe at his Inter counterpart Jose Mourinho, claiming that all of Italy will cheer for his side and not for the San Siro outfit during the clash of the titans on Wednesday.
The 'Special One' has taken some battering in the Italian media in the past, and would be unlikely to win a popularity contest if journalists were asked to vote on their favourite manager. And given the well-documented rivalry between Ancelotti and fellow Champions League-winning boss Mourinho, the former has decided to capitalise on the Portuguese tactician's frosty time in the peninsula.
"Everyone in Italy, except the Inter fans, will be supporting Chelsea," Ancelotti said in an interview with Italian newspaper Il Giornale.
Responding to claims from ex-Porto gaffer Mou that the Londoners' lack of trophies since his departure in 2007 proved that they missed his presence, the Italian added: "It’s true that after him nobody has won anything for Chelsea [apart from Guus Hiddink], although some bloke called Grant didn’t do so bad and came close with the Champions League final."
Despite the 'love at first swipe' relationship that exists between the two tacticians, the former Milan boss believes he will not drive his side on an emotional level just to get one up on his rival.
Ancelotti said: "He is good at charging up the atmosphere and the team, but it’s ground I would never go on."

- AFP |

Inter 2-1 Chelsea: Esteban Cambiasso Rocket Edges Epic Encounter
Cambiasso won the day at San Siro...
It's advantage Inter after Jose Mourinho defeated his old side Chelsea 2-1 in a gripping Champions League last 16 first leg at San Siro.
Esteban Cambiasso scored the winner after Salomon Kalou had equalised Diego Milito's early opener to leave everything open for the second leg in London. But the game may be overshadowed by a serious-looking injury to goalkeeper Petr Cech.
The big team news prior to kick-off was the decision by Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti to play Florent Malouda at left-back in the absence of the injured Ashley Cole and Yury Zhirkov. There were no other major surprises as Didier Drogba led the line supported by Salomon Kalou and Nicolas Anelka.
For Inter, Samuel Eto'o got the nod over Goran Pandev to partner Diego Milito in attack. Thiago Motta and Dejan Stankovic returned as starters in midfield, while Julio Cesar was fit to play, sporting two black eyes.
It took Inter just two minutes to break the deadlock. Motta and Wesley Sneijder combined before Milito cut inside John Terry and buried the ball past Petr Cech at his near post.
Chelsea were slow out of the blocks and it wasn't until the 11th minute that they put a decent attack together as Kalou tested Julio Cesar.
The Premier League leaders were desperately unlucky not to equalise on the quarter-hour as Drogba smashed an unstoppable 25-yard free kick against the underside of the bar.
Chelsea started to threaten more and more. Julio Cesar beat the ball away from Ballack, while Drogba spun and fired wide from 10 yards.
The Ivorian was looking dangerous, and he volleyed wide from the edge of the area. Down the other end, Milito was booked for simulation.
On 33 minutes it should have been 2-0 as Eto'o missed an absolute sitter. Sneijder squared the ball across the six yard box, and with it seemingly impossible to miss, Eto'o missed scuffed his kick horribly.
Inter squandered another fine opening soon after. Maicon played a great one-two with Milito, but his touch was heavy as he bore down on goal.
Right on half-time there was a huge penalty shout as Kalou ran through on goal and went down under pressure from Walter Samuel. The referee waved away the appeals, but replays appeared to show that the Argentine had caught the Ivorian's right foot in what would have resulted in a penalty and red card for Samuel.
Chelsea came out of the second half with intent and within five minutes they levelled the scores after a bad goalkeeping error from Julio Cesar. Kalou curled the ball towards the corner, but Julio Cesar let the ball bounce through and over his fingers.
Inter's reaction was immediate and emphatic. Esteban Cambiasso made a rare foray forward, and slammed home the ball into the bottom corner from 25 yards after his original shot had been blocked.
Mourinho went for the jugular and brought on Mario Balotelli for Motta. Meanwhile, Chelsea lost Cech to a serious-looking injury and Henrique Hilario was summoned.
On 65 minutes Chelsea should have equalised again as Julio Cesar saved from Frank Lampard from point blank range after good work from Anelka.
Pandev replaced Eto'o, and Ivanovic made a key tackle on Cambiasso in the penalty box.
Chelsea threw on Daniel Sturridge and pressed for a second goal but Inter held on relatively comfortably for a 2-1 win. There is everything to play for in the second leg at Stamford Bridge.
long story shot..this is a matchmake in heaven.hahah.hopefully inter won the second leg |

hahah..mcm haram je..cemerlang,gemilang,terbilang..wakaka..
sensasi...dah lama tak rasa mcm ni woo..teringat balik season 2002/2003 dulu..under hector cuper,we were tough and feared european juggernauts..i had been missing that feeling..but now,the feeling is back.it's a strange feeling.
secara jujur, there's only 1 reason why we won and outplayed a very very very very strong english team in chelsea.
jawapannye ialah inter are now without ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC
zlatan ibrahimovic was the only reason why we lost to liverpool and man utd in the last 2 seasons of CL..we were too dependent on him, despite the fact the he is an awful player when it comes to big matches..
it was a wise decision to sell him..absolutely good riddance..without him, inter can finally play REAL football in europe..at last!!kalau tak, asyik kasi long ball je kat zlatan and hope for his magic yg selalunya tak menjadi pon..
bravo inter..tapi peluang nak menang CL tu still tipis..man utd, barcelona,or arsenal would've crushed us..chelsea is a strong team, but their style of play is very similar to ours..in that case,we were not really tested..the real test comes when we face teams that play slick football like barcelona and arsenal.. |

Inter Coach Jose Mourinho: We Played The Perfect Match Against Chelsea
The tactician is pleased with his side's performance...
Inter coach Jose Mourinho was overjoyed with his side's 1-0 victory over Chelsea that saw the Nerazzurri progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in four seasons.
"It's a great moment for the side, and for all the players that in the last few seasons have struggled to get past this stage," the Portuguese boss said to Sky after the match. "It's a qualification that is deserved by the team, as they played a great match. There was no luck involved.
"It was the perfect match played by all - every player did their best and got the job done."
"This was the match that took Inter to the quarter-finals, and it has not happened a lot. We beat Chelsea twice, and deserved to go through.
"I knew Chelsea intimately, from their team, the atmosphere, the buildings, everything. I also knew that it would have been impossible to play for a scoreless draw and defend for 90 minutes.
"In order to beat them, I played an attacking formation, so that they could not score. They play a predictable game plan, and it works for them.
"All the players needed was a bit of faith in me, and it all went well."
Mourinho also admitted to celebrating with the players after the match.
"I celebrated like I never have before - I was not the well-behaved child in this instance. In the dressing room, I was overjoyed because Inter is my side, and Chelsea is my past. It will remain in my heart, but it is in the past.
The Portuguese also clarified the situation with his Chelsea counterpart, Carlo Ancelotti.
"There has never been a problem with Ancelotti. There may have been, at times, an exchanging of words and jokes, but there will always be respect.
"If I have time, I will visit his office and wish him all the best in winning the Premier League," concluded Mourinho. |
