Time to sell Lamps and Ballack?
Yes I said it, Chelsea need to realise if they want to move on then selling Lampard and Ballack is the way to go.
Honestly I think both players are great but I think Chelsea have a big problem now that all our players are back from either injury or back from the African Nations. Over the past few weeks SWP has been very good for us in the middle causing problems with his pace, energy and hunger to succeed but against Liverpool he was put back on the right wing were he is awful just to accommodate Lampard who kept getting in Ballacks way and vice versa.
If Chelsea seriously want to move on and play a better brand of football they only have to look at Arsenal and Man United. Over the years Wenger has sold Henry, Vieira, Pires, Ljungberg, Cole and has dropped Silva and Lehman so that his younger players could blossom. Look at Adebayor since Henry has left, look at Clichy since Cole left and Wenger replaced Pires and Ljunberg for younger more skillful players like Hleb and Rosicky.
Man United have also sold a goal machine in Ruud Van Nistelrooy and have never looked back. Since he left Man United`s football has become more diverse with brilliant movement. Which is why Chelsea should follow suit! I strongly believe Grant doesn`t have the bottle to drop big name players for players who are in form which is a very worrying problem as from next week who will play and who will grant drop? People might say its a good thing that we have selection problems but it won`t be a good thing if players get picked on reputation.
For next season.....
Imagine a midfield with Essien as the main man with Mikel holding supported by two wingers hopefully Quaresma being one of them. It will allow Grant to play the 4-4-2 formation without worrying about dropping big name players it will also give our young midfield duo more responsibility in which they can express themselves which would benefit Chelsea greatly. Some might say Chelsea would be short of midfield options but we would still have Makalele, hopefully Modric who can play either center or left and SWP who seems more comfortable in the middle.
Chelsea should seriously consider their options for next season and a team of: Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Carvalho, Cole, Mikel, Essien, Quaresma, Modric, Anelka and Drogba with a subs bench of: Carlo, Alex, SWP, Kalou, Belleti, Cole, Sheva that team would be ideal and can take us to the next level.
Players come and go and teams always need to evolve. |
