West Ham United boss Alan Pardew knows the prospect of the club being bought out has moved a step closer.

"I'm not sure how it affects the players, to be honest," Pardew said of the declaration of the Israeli businessman Eli Papoushado that he was willing to help fund the deal.

"For my part I don't want to get involved too much in that. I'm focusing very much on what is the issue at the moment for me as the manager of the team and that is performances and results.

"That's because once you get a couple of defeats the press, the media, even the fans and people close to the club can suggest it's not quite the same and the signings have disrupted the spirit. In all honesty, I don't believe that's true. We need to put a full 90 minutes together and get a result and then we can put some of the silly stuff that's been floating about to bed."

Alan Pardew insists he does not fear the West Ham axe if the London side are purchased by Kia Joorabchian's consortium.

The man who brought Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to Upton Park is widely believed to be readying a ?104 million takeover bid for the Premiership club, with Israeli billionaire Eli Papoushado confirming he is one of Joorabchian's backers.

"I'd like to think that whoever comes in here would see the record I have here - and my results at Reading - and that would suggest they could do a whole lot worse than stick with me," said Pardew in the News of the World.

"You look at all jobs and there is always speculation.

"When the new board took over at Manchester United people said Sir Alex Ferguson would go.

"It comes with the territory and I accept that.

"But if I am asked 'Do I fear for my job', then the answer is no.

"I would never fear that.

"Why? Because I believe I can work in this game at the highest level. Nothing fazes me."

Hammers boss Alan Pardew has worries over defenders James Collins and Tyrone Mears ahead of the Uefa Cup clash away at Palermo.       
Collins has a groin injury and faces a late test and Mears has a calf injury and he too will face a late fitness test before the boss decides on whether to risk them or not

Pardew already has injury problems at the back as Anton Ferdinand will miss the match after picking up a calf injury in the defeat to Manchester City at the weekend and Pardew says he has no idea when he will return.

"I don't know when he will be back but it's an absolute certainty that Anton will not be available for the Palermo game," he told the club's official website.

Hayden Mullins replaced Ferdinand against City and is expected to continue with Christian Dailly reverting to central defence as the Hammers look to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.
