Keira Knightley to Star Opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in 'Imitation Game'

Keira Knightley is in talks to star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in The Imitation Game, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Morten Tyldum is directing the indie drama, which sees Black Bear Pictures adapting the book Alan Turing: The Enigma.
Turing (Cumberbatch) was a U.K. mathematician and cryptographer who helped crack the German’s enigma code machine during the final years of World War II, helping the Allies to victory. He was later prosecuted by the government for being a homosexual and committed suicide.

Knightley will play a woman from a very conservative background who not only forms a complicated relationship with Turing but is there for him until the end.
Teddy Schwarzman is producing with Nora Grossman and Ido Ostrowsky of Ampersand Pictures.
The budget for the indie is in the $15 million range.

And so he doesn’t forget that all he needs is to have faith in himself, Mr. Wallis has ‘faith’ tattooed on his shoulder.
A few months after moving to Hollywood, the Stouffville native directed his first feature film A Christmas Too Many, starring Mickey Rooney.
The cast also included Marla Maples, who was married to Donald Trump at the time, as well as Diff’rent Strokes’ star Gary Coleman.

“An incredibly interesting experience to have a lifetime Oscar winner in your first film,” Mr. Wallis told The Sun-Tribune of the 2007 movie.
Mr. Wallis, 47, is currently surrounded by another Academy Award recipient as well as winners of the Golden Globe, Tony, Emmy, BAFTA and Gemini awards for his latest project

The animated TV series was created and written by Mr. Wallis and stars the voices of Jim Broadbent, Matthew Goode, Michael Gambon, Joanna Lumley, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jimmy Carr and Imelda Staunton.

With a tip of the hat to Fawlty Towers and Blackadder, the show follows the story of Poppy, a well meaning but eccentric man who owns an old fashioned retirement home in rural England. When he’s about to go broke, he must count on the assistance of miscreants he may have been better off without.

Voice work is expected to start shortly in London, England with the animation being completed in Toronto this summer.

It will be on TV screens around the world this fall.

For those of you who were excited by the idea of seeing Emma Stone in a Guillermo del Toro movie, I have some bad news. While it seemed like the deal was all cinched up back in January, it turns out that the Easy A actress won't be able to star in the new haunted house horror Crimson Peak. That news is certainly disappointing, but the positive side of the situation is that the director has found a more-than-capable replacement.

The Wrap reports that Mia Wasikowska, who put on a frightfully brilliant performance in Chan-wook Park's Stoker earlier this year, is now in talks to take the lead role in Crimson Peak. The site says that taking on the part would see her play Edith Cushing, a young author "who discovers that her charming new husband is not who he appears to be." The brilliant cast already includes Benedict Cumberbatch and Jessica Chastain as a pair of aristocratic siblings, while Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam has a lead role that we can probably assume is the duplicitous husband. The director co-wrote the film with Matthew Robbins and Lucinda Coxon and production is being eyed to start at the beginning of next year.
