Sliver Lining's Cast including Anupam Kher gets nominated for a SAG Award
We all know that Anupam Kher is one of the greatest actors of our time, and now the world knows it.
The actor, who is one of the few Indian actors who has received recognition in both Hindi, regional and international feature films has now added another feather in his cap.
Kher was a part of producer David O Russell’s film Silver Lining’s Playbook along with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Tucker and Jacki Weaver.
The film has received a lot of critical acclaim already and the now the ensemble cast of the filmhas just secured a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a cast in a Motion Picture, for the prestigious 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG).
“As an actor, it is most gratifying to be recognised by one’s peers. Hence this nomination is a high point for me, professionally,” says Kher.

Vidya Balan & Siddharth Roy Kapoor's Wedding Pictures
Actress Vidya Balan and UTV head Siddharth Roy Kapur are now married. The ceremony took place at the couples’ new house in Bandra in an over-one hour ceremony which was a mix of both South Indian and Punjabi styles, keeping in mind the background of the bride and groom.
While we’ve heard that Vidya’s wedding trousseau is made up of 18 traditional style sarees designed by her favourite Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Vidya went through three costume changes during her nuptials. One of these included a mustard sari with a pink blouse, which was meant to match with Siddharth’s yellow kurta and pink turban. Vidya is also said to have sported a big flower in her hair.
The gorgeous actress was thrilled to be wed with the complete traditional customs and will be sporting toe-rings on both her feet and a thaali (woven yellow thread with images of deities).
The proceedings were looked after by Vidya’s family which includes her parents Saraswathy and P R Balan, and her sister Priya and brother-in-law Kedar, and Siddharth’s family including his brothers Kunaal and Aditya.
The post-wedding celebrations will be enjoyed by all family and close friends of the couple. They intend to send sweets to their colleagues and friends from the film industry. And there is speculation of a reception in Chennai.
Although they’ve been tight-lipped about it, Vidya intends to take a sabbatical from work after she returns from her honeymoon with Siddharth in the Caribbean for the release of Ghanchakkar.
Till then, many celebrities have been sending the couple their good wishes via social networking especially twitter including Madhur Bhandarkar, Kumar Taurani, Priyanka Chopra and the likes.

Indian TV and film producer Ekta Kapoor has been accused of abusing a senior citizen. Daughter of the man accused posted several tweets regarding the incident stating she is not doing this for cheap publicity but just trying to get her Dad an apology.
SRK keen to have Priyanka Chopra for 'Happy New Year'?
The huge controversy surrounding Shahrukh Khan's relationship with Priyanka Chopra and their alleged affair does not seem to have deterred SRK's professional equation with the same despite his wife Gauri and close friend Karan Johar's disapproval.
The latest buzz is that Shahrukh is keen to have Priyanka Chopra on board for Farah Khan's next directorial venture, Happy New Year, which goes on floors next year. Though it has already been confirmed SRK is on board the project, there has been no official announcement on the leading lady of the project by Farah Khan.

"Though Deepika, Katrina, Priyanka and Kareena were all in the reckoning, what is working in PeeCee's favour is SRK's seal of approval. Sources close to both the stars say that a defiant Khan has been functioning 'like a man possessed'. "Always acutely conscious of his image as someone who put his wife on a pedestal, and his best friends before himself, he is now cocking a snook to all those who thought they had him wrapped around their fingers," says the source. And despite Gauri's obvious disapproval of PeeCee and the couple's old friends rallying around Mrs Khan, SRK has decided to throw in his might behind his controversial co-star.
"With PeeCee trying hard to get a toe-hold in the Salman Khan camp, SRK tried his best to leverage his association with his Jab Tak co-star Katrina. India's entry to the 85th Academy Awards, Barfi!, is officially out of the race for the 'Best Foreign Language Film' category according to a press announcement which was released today.
Barfi! received rave reviews from the critics and audience and raked in Rs. 106 crores nett at the domestic box office which was not anticipated. The film was selected over films such as Kahaani, Paan Singh Tomar and Gangs of Wasseypur by The Film Federation Of India as India's Oscar entry. Some critics and pundits alike criticised the decision stating that Barfi! was heavily inspired and had copied scenes from various Hollywood films.

Like every other year, there were things that made the news for the right reasons, and some which were just plain silly. But had our fair share of viral items. Here they are:
1. Finnair celebrates Bollywood with a surprise dance - It's not everyday that passengers on an international flight to India get a taste of true Bollywood. So were the passengers in for a surprise on Finnair's flight from Helsinki to New Delhi on our Republic Day, 26th January 2012.
The flight attendants marched in clad in their uniforms saying namaste to all on board and then broke into a flash mob performance to Deewangi Deewangi from Om Shanti Om. The idea came to Helena Kaartinen, a stewardess that it would be a great way of welcoming Indian passengers on an important day for the nation, and she sought the help of a friend who is a Bollywood dance teacher.
The clip was uploaded onto the web a few days later after the performance enthralled all those in the aircraft and to date it has gathered more than 5 million views. It managed to get more than 500,000 views within the first day of upload itself.
This was definitely one treat we loved to watch.
2. Jab Tak Hai Jaan poetry becomes popular - Trust Bollywood to come up with innovative ideas to garner more publicity and curiosity towards forthcoming releases... And this time, it was none other than Yashraj stalwart Aditya Chopra's genius. The film was Jab Tak Hai Jaan, his father's last directorial feature, and it featured Shah Rukh Khan as a romantic hero with two gorgeous ladies. It all started with a teaser trailer for the film that was released with scenes of the film flashing to some beautiful poetry on romance spoken by Khan. The buzz caught on and we were able to delve deeper into the mind of the Yashraj genius. But the viral campaign was kick-started by SRK himself, as he asked fans to translate the poem into their native languages after he had posted his translation of the poem in English.
Just that was enough. The trailer got 3 million views within those few days that people from all over the world translated the Jab Tak Hai Jaan poem into the likes of Turkish, Italian, Persian, French and many other languages.
And as this gimmick caught on, so did the films's poetry and the trailer.
3. Veena Malik plays MMS gimmick - Publicity hungry actress Veena Malik gave us no shock at all as she got involved in a quick pseudo MMS-scandal. The video included her kissing, cuddling and making out with a certain producer Rajan Verma. We don't know how many actually remember the video, but the few days after its release, it was certainly talked about. Veena took her time to clarify that the MMS was, in fact, a scene from her upcoming film. But looking at her previous track record, and the fact that she has once been caught exposing with the director of her film in some photographs, we had our doubts.
And while she showed how upset she was that the film's footage was leaked, we sense a pure gimmick behind the whole act.
4. Jackie Shroff's Blast from the Past - Talk about turning back time. Before Amitabh Bachchan took over the helm, it was actor Jackie Shroff spreading awareness for Pulse Polio. Almost 15 years later, one of his adverts for the cause went absolutely viral on websites like Twitter and Facebook. Unfortunatly it wasn't just the ad that caught everybody's attention, it was in fact the behind the scenes footage which sent everyone into splits. The clip featured Shroff struggling with his Hindi script and using expletives and abuses in Hindi and Marathi out of frustration.
After 14 years, the actor was in a soup due to the long forgotten video that kept in the news as people on both sites posted their thoughts about it. He defended himself by saying he was letting off some steam.
5. Dharmendra ko gussa kyun aata hai? - Garam Dharam was surely at it again. The veteran actor who has been caught with his hot temper many times before had the privilege of going viral this year thanks to this temper of is. At daughter Esha's wedding reception, proud papa Dharam was asked about the absence of his two sons, Sunny and Bobby, who has claimed that they would be unable to attend the do due to prior work commitments. This did not go down well with our favourite He-Man. Dharmendra lashed back with an undecipherable phrase and hand gesture, and then moved forward towards another reporter to give him the fist before being stopped by a security guard.
Worst was, this incident was caught on video and started doing the rounds of the internet. Pretty soon it was one of most talked about incidents raging online. Not a great thing to remember about a wedding!
6. Gana Wala Song - Student of the Year Parody - As if the lyrics weren't silly enough, Karan Johar's highly publicized romance production number Ishq Wala Love, that was shot in the valleys of Kashmir got itself a parody. The spoof titled 'Gana Wala Song' by Q-Tiyapa made its way into the Youtube viral circuit by making fun of almost everything in the song, from the clothes to the locales to the lyrics and even the poor cast. The video was all over the web in no time, and was loved by many, gathering more attention and more patronage than its original.
7. Saif is Kareena's Uncle - We don't know who started this one, but it was the most believable Bollywood rumours around. Columnist Suhel Seth feeltingly joked on twitter, "Kareena Kapoor at Saif's first wedding, wished him "Congrats uncle" : he said "Thank you beta": lesson: no beta to any girl who wishes you on your wedding." And that was it. The news spread like wildfire. The joke which was meant to be a comment on the age difference between the now-married love-birds stated that 11 year old Kareena wished Saif unlce for his marriage to Amrita Singh back in 1991, and he reciprocated with Thankyou Beta. He was 21 then. The joke went viral only a day after the power couple married in a private ceremony in Mumbai on October 16.
Finally, the couple rubbished the rumours sometime after. But the news kept us entertained till then.
8. Ekta Kapoor's rudeness is a hit! - Just a week back, producer Ekta Kapoor's alleged rudeness towards an elederly gentleman in a bank in Mumbai went absolutely viral on blogging and social networking sites. The incident took storm as Anisha Sharma, who owns her own website narrated the incident as the victim happened to be her father.
Her words were: 'A woman at the bank just called my father an 'old fool' and told him to 'f*** off', because he was in her way. This was Ekta Kapoor...'
Ekta rubbished the story as being twisted. She claimed she was the one who had a hard time, and pointed the Sharmas as attention-seekers.
We still haven't got to the bottom of that one.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, who has won as many as six Filmfare awards, feels her cousin Ranbir is giving her tough competition and may soon break her record -- but she adds that it would be a big moment for her.
"Since I was a child, I always thought I will win a Filmfare and give an acceptance speech, where I will thank my mother, father and family. My Filmfare trophies will follow me till my grave. Hopefully, not only six but many more," said Kareena.
"But I have a very tough competition in my own family now. You never know, soon Ranbir might cross my record and that of my grandfather. But that would surely be a very joyous moment for our family," added the 32-year-old.
While Kareena has six Filmfare trophies in her kitty, Ranbir has four and their grandfather, the legendary actor Raj Kapoor had won 11 Filmfare awards.
The newly-wed was speaking here at the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards 2012 press conference Tuesday.
The award-giving ceremony is scheduled for Jan 20 next year at the Yash Raj Films (YRF) studios in Mumbai.
The fact that she belongs to the Kapoor family does put pressure on her.
"The pressures are obviously there because there are so many names associated with it. But we are all taking it forward in our own way. Earlier it was me and Karisma, but I am so glad that finally there is a man in the family (Ranbir)," said Kareena.
This year the actress had four releases -- "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu", "Agent Vinod", "Heroine", and "Talaash". Besides that she has done item number "Fevicol se" in Salman Khan's film "Dabangg 2", releasing Friday.
Robinhood Pandey aka Chulbul Pandey turns a year older today. Tagged as the most bankable star of the year, Salman has once again proved that his charisma and fan following is unbeatable. Not only did he complete his 25 years in Bollywood this year but also gave back to back hits yet again proving he is the number 1 star in Bollywood when it comes to box office numbers.

The southern superstar who has had repeated successful runnings at the Bollywood box office with his remakes in the form of Wanted and Rowdy Rathore, is now set for another directorial venture.
This time Prabhudeva is all set to make an original action comedy with Ajay Devgn in the lead. But the latest that Times of India reports is that it's none other than Deepika Padukone who is being heavily considered as the female lead opposite Ajay.
Prabhudeva would like this unusual pairing for his upcoming project a source told the publication.
"Deepika has never worked with Ajay and Prabhu feels their chemistry is yet to be explored on screen. Also, Prabhu always goes for unusual pairing. In his next, the hero will be a hardcore character while the heroine will be a soft and emotional character. Much like the Salman Khan-Ayesha Takia and Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha pairing in Wanted and Rowdy Rathore, respectively, which created quite a buzz."
If everything falls into place, Dips should be part of the project as soon as she finishes shooting for Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express and Prabhu's ABCD hits the screens. "Meetings have taken place but nothing is finalised yet. A decision will be taken soon," added the source.
While Deepika hasn't spoken on this project yet, we'd love to see if she and Ajay can recreate the same magic that was seen with Ayesha-Salman and Akshay-Sonakshi.
