Nishikido Ryo stars as father in drama series “Inu wo Kau to Iu Koto”
NEWS and Kanjani8 member Nishikido Ryo (26) will be taking on the role of a father in a new TV Asahi drama series this spring. The show, titled “Inu wo Kau to Iu Koto ~Sky to Wagaya no 180 Nichi~,” marks Nishikido’s first solo starring role in a series.
Nishikido plays the 30-year-old salaryman Hongo Yuji, whose job in human resources had him laying off employees until he himself was laid off. With his family of four on the verge of collapse, he ends up taking in a Pomeranian puppy, which gets named Sky Tree due to the family living in a downtown area near the Tokyo Sky Tree tower. Raising the dog helps bring the family back together, resulting in a home drama full of laughter and tears.
Mizukawa Asami (27) will play Nishikido’s wife. The actors playing their two children, ages 7 and 9, have not been revealed yet.
“Inu wo Kau to Iu Koto” will air on Fridays at 11:15pm, starting in April.

Q. This is your first official visit to Korea. How do you feel about visiting korea?
A. This visit, alot of fans were giving me a warm welcome at the airport. Before exiting the airport gate, I heard the fans shouting "Yamapi". I thought, "Since I've come to korea, I'll do my best"
Q. You came as a solo artiste, without NewS members. Arashi, KAT-TUN and other japanese stars have been to korea. Did you hear/seek any advice from them?
A. I felt honored that I'm here to promote my solo album that will be released soon. I would like to come to korea again together with NewS. I didn't have the chance to hear/seek any advice from Arashi and KAT-TUN. I've listened to interesting stories about korea from my korean friend. (He's probably talking about Kim Jaejoong, ex-tohoshinki member, current member of JYJ)

Yamapi is hot for teacher?
After learning that the foreign girl he seems to be dating is a French woman, the tabloid Tokyo Sports has now found out that she is also his sister, Yamashita Rina’s (23) English teacher.
A friend of Yamashita Tomohisa revealed this interesting little tidbit, which tells us a lot about how he got to meet her in the first place. He is living together with his family at a large apartment and thus it was inevitable for him to get to know his sister’s English teacher.
“She was supposed to teach Rina English, but he often joined their private lessons in order to improve his English as well. This is the main reason why he has gotten so much better within just half a year. At the same time she must have become more than just a teacher to him…” the friend explained
If what his friend is saying is true, then Rina must have been just as surprised about their relationship as us. While she might have already grasped the situation, since it’s impossible to keep such a secret from your siblings, it probably was only after the articles and pictures in the tabloids that she fully realized what was going on between her brother and her teacher.
The pictures we have seen so far clearly show a certain degree of intimacy that could hint at more than just friendship between Yamashita and the French woman, but his agency Johnny’s keeps on denying that there is anything going on between them. They commented, “She is a friend who taught him English. There is absolutely no further relationship beyond that.”
