Ferguson minati khidmat Morimoto
TOKYO - Penyerang remaja Jepun yang beraksi di Itali, Takayuki Morimoto menjadi buruan beberapa kelab besar Eropah dengan bos Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson antara yang mengagumi pemain itu, kata seorang pegawai kelab itu.
Morimoto, 21, yang beraksi untuk Catania dalam Serie A, baru-baru ini dipanggil untuk mewakili skuad kebangsaan Jepun buat pertama dan perubahan besar dijangka akan berlaku ke atas pemain itu.
"Kami akan memindahkan dia ke kelab besar selepas hujung musim ini. Kami hanya sebuah kelab kecil, tidak dapat berbuat lebih lagi terhadapnya.
"Kami telah menerima tawaran penting dari England dan Perancis.
Jurulatih Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson juga memandang tinggi kemampuan pemain ini,'' kata Pengarah Urusan Catania, Pietro Lo Monaco kepada akhbar Asahi Shimbun di Itali.
Morimoto, yang tiga musim dalam pasukan Liga-J, Tokyo Verdy sebelum menyertai Catania pada 2006, telah menjaringkan sembilan gol dalam 42 perlawanan Serie A, juga menjaringkan gol ketika perlawanan pembukaan kelabnya yang kalah 2-1 kepada Sampdoria.
Pada perlawanan Ahad lalu, Morimoto duduk di bangku simpanan akibat masalah paha ketika pasukannya kalah 2-1 kepada Parma.
"Perkara yang penting ialah kebijaksanaan dan semangat,'' kata Lo Monaco, yang pertama kali melihat aksi pemain itu pada kejohanan Piala Dunia Remaja 2005. - AFP |

Fergie sets sights on Obertan debut
Sir Alex Ferguson expects to be giving Gabriel Obertan his Manchester United debut in six weeks' time.
Man United made Obertan one of their low-key purchases during the summer when they snapped up the former France Under-21 star from Bordeaux for £3million.
Although Obertan was once viewed as one of the hottest young properties in Europe, the winger has been blighted by injury and arrived at Old Trafford with a spinal problem that has required surgery.
And Ferguson has revealed it will be mid-October before he expects the player to be available for first-team duty, which could put him in line to feature in the latter stages of the Carling Cup, if United progress, or the last few Champions League group games.
"Gabriel has had a spine problem but I think he will be back in a month to six weeks' time," Ferguson told Inside United.
"We are taking our time with him because we want him back and 100%.
"He is very quick, can play wide both sides and through the middle so he brings a real versatility to us. We expect big things from him.
"At 16 he was one of the outstanding talents in Europe. But he has been playing with this back injury for a year and a half and no-one thought about getting a scan."
