I've Had Meltdowns On Set': Benedict Cumberbatch Admits Difficulty Over Learning Lines

Benedict Cumberbatch might be impressing hoards of fans with his acting ability, but the actor has admitted that he has suffered "meltdowns" on set after finding it difficult to learn his lines.

The star, who will soon be back on our TV screens as the iconic detective, Sherlock, has had a busy few months after his appearance in the film, Star Trek: Into Darkness.

Admitting the difficulties he has had in the past with learning lines, Benedict told the Mail Online recently: "When I was younger I had to spend double the amount of time learning French vocabulary. I struggle to learn by rote. I’ve had meltdowns on set. Which is embarrassing and shameful."

Benedict Cumberbatch is attacked in South Africa while filming BBC drama To The Ends Of The Earth in 2004.

He's accosted by 6 armed carjackers and bundled into a car with a couple of co-stars.


‘I could see the headlight beams bumping over the dirt track and I thought of shallow graves,’ he remembers.

Benedict’s acting skills save him when his attackers shove him into the boot. He tells them he has a heart and brain problem and will die.
