Ben Affleck has scored the role of Batman in the sequel to Man of Steel, Warner Bros has announced. The Argo star replaces Christian Bale in the DC Comics role of Bruce Wayne in the as yet untitled Zack Snyder film. Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are reprising their roles from Man of Steel. "Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman," says Snyder. "He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him." It is not the first superhero role for Affleck - the Good Will Hunting star previously played Daredevil in the 2003 film of the same name. The Superman/Batman film is being scripted by David S Goyer and is scheduled for a July, 2015 release.
