Newproject!Kim Bum’s had pretty good luck with projects —UnstoppableHigh Kick, Eastof Eden,Boys BeforeFlowers— and we’ll see if he can keep the streak going with hisnew drama. He’s just announced his next role, in the SBS Monday-Tuesdaydrama Dream [드림], which also stars Joo Jin-mo (200Pound Beauty) and pop singer Sohn Dam-bi. In Dream,Kim Bum will shed his pretty-boy image for atough guy who spent time ina juvenile correctional facility and nowpractices mixed martial arts.Because the role calls for lots ofskin-baring scenes (topless fightingKim Bum?!?), he’s busy working outto get into top shape. The dramatells the story of the young man’sjourney alongside a sports agent (JooJin-mo) as both struggle toovercome hardship and succeed. Sohn Dam-biplays the daughter of amartial arts director.Honestly, I have no idea if this drama will be good. Joo Jin-mo issexy, yes, but Sohn Dam-bi is a pop singer with no proven actingskills. (Notsaying she can’t have ‘em, just saying I’m not convinced.)But I’mdefinitely going to be looking forward to Kim Bum demonstratingsomegood acting, because I think Boys Before Flowers was ahorrible example of what he’s capable of (for which I blame thedirector). I find a little hope in its production team: Dreamwill be written by Jung Hyung-soo (Jumong, Damo) anddirected by Baek Soo-chan (Tazza, Golden Bride). Thedrama will air in September.Credit Dramabeans

Kim Beom (19), Joo Jin Mo (34), and Son Dam Bi (25) are finalizing agreements to co-star in Dream, an SBS drama to begin filming this summer.

Dream is a 16-episode drama with Baek Soo Chan (Golden Bride) directing and Jung Hyung Soo (Jumong, Damo) writing the script. It is being produced by CJ Entertainment, and will air on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning in September once Ja Myung Go ends its run. The project was previously titled Tough Guy, and is now in the process of casting and creating scripts.

Kim Beom’s character is named Lee Jang Seok, a tough guy who has spent time in a juvenile detention centre for pickpocketing. As he gets involved in mixed martial arts, he meets sports agent Nam Je Yeol (Joo Jin Mo) by chance. The two embark on a difficult journey to reach the top. Son Dam Bi will play Park So Yeon, a 27-year-old Tae Bo instructor at her father’s martial arts centre. Her character has a strong image, and discovers martial arts athletes who have the potential to go pro.

Assuming that casting goes as planned, this will be singer Son Dam Bi’s drama debut. Kim Beom currently has several movie projects on the go after completing KBS drama Boys Over Flowers this past spring. Joo Jin Mo won a Best Actor PaekSang in February for his role in A Frozen Flower.

ni backdated news psl Dream sebelum tau siapa 2nd male lead dia...

Son Dam Bi May Lead New Drama
9 May 2009

Rumors are flying around that SBS is negotiating with Son Dambi’s people to have her play the lead female role in their upcoming drama Dream.

If Dambi accepts the part, it will be her first starring role in a drama. She’ll play the part of a strong willed Tae Bo instructor that works at her father’s martial arts training facility.

SBS is also negotiating with Frozen Flower star Joo Jin Mo. If he takes the part, Jin Mo will play the role of a sports agent with a troubled past. Dream is in its earliest stages of production and the scripts for the 20 episode drama just started to be written. However, it seems that Dream will have the classic love triangle story line because SBS confirmed that there will be two male leads in the drama. SBS didn’t give out a name for the second male lead but they did say that he is one of Korea’s most talented A-list actors.

Dream is set to air in September on Mondays and Tuesdays after the historical drama Ja Myung Go comes to an end.

A lot of attention has been paid to the younger actors of the upcoming SBS drama series Dream (such as F4抯 playboy Kim Bum and pop singer-dancer Sohn Dam-bi), but let抯 take a look at the manly-man heading the cast, shall we?
Joo Jin-mo (Frozen Flower, 200 Pound Beauty) is taking on the role of a sports agent, which means the Jerry Maguirecomparisons are already trickling in. The drama features the world ofmixed martial arts (which is a sport Kim Bum抯 character takes up),from both the athletes

SBS really is aiming their upcoming Dream at the youth market, isn’t it? Which is too bad, since Joo Jin-mo is the best actor in the cast and he’s getting passed over in news and attention for his younger colleague Kim Bum (not that Kim Bum isn’t adorable).
With only a little more than a week left till it airs, Hong Ah-reumis the latest addition to the cast as Kim Bum’s love interest. The20-year-old actress appeared not long ago as a young single mother inthe KBS weekend series My Precious You, sporting anunfashionable hairstyle and Saturi accent. Her storyline depicting theconflict between her love for her son and her first love earned her ayear-end nomination for best new actress.
In Dream, she goes in the opposite direction, portraying abright, cute Yuri character who falls for Kim Bum’s Jang-seok, and thusbegins their romantic loveline. She follows him around everywhere tocheer him on, and uses her father’s money to become a strong supporterand sponsor to him and sports agent Jae-il (Joo Jin-mo). Since lovegeometry is an essential kdrama component, she finds out that Jang-seoklikes So-yeon (Sohn Dam-bi) and sizes her up as her love rival.
With Ja Myung Go ending next week, Dream is poised to take over the following Monday, July 27.

SBS’s new drama Dream is about to replace the historical drama Ja Myung Go on Mondays and Tuesdays, and on the 15th held its customary pre-show ceremony to wish for good luck and a successful broadcast.

With the buzz this drama has (mostly over its lead cast of Kim Bum, Joo Jin-mo, and Sohn Dam-bi), expect that curiosity to show itself in the premiere numbers. Whether it can hold onto viewers against MBC’s powerhouse Queen Seon-deok is another story.

Kim Bum explained feeling the weight of expectations, saying, “Of the F4 members, I’m the first to show a transformation. It’s true that I feel pressure. I was aided a lot by borrowing the shell of the So Yi-jung character from the popular original series. I don’t think to be content with one image, but that I should wake up from fantasy and have to change.”

About the physical requirements of the character (who practices mixed martial arts), Kim said, “Actually, it’s been said that I’ve been devoting myself to building up my body, but because of the busy shooting schedule I haven’t had time to work out, so I’m managing what I eat.”

Dream premieres on July 27.
