Miss Eco Dress Competition winners of Miss Eco International 2017

Miss Eco International 2017 finale is just 3 days away, and the pageant has been a roller coaster ride for the contestants as well as the viewers. In just two weeks, the pageant has very conveniently covered all the events and activities of the pageant. Around 60 finalists are competing for the coveted title of Miss Eco International 2017. Amidst the various Preliminary Activities, the delegates recently took the stage to compete at the Eco Dress Competition.

During the Eco Dress Competition, all the delegates were to take the ramp donning outfits made of recycled items like plastic bags, etc. The delegates used their creative sides to create something that is not just made out of waste, but can also be termed as fashion. After exhibiting their talent at the Competition, the judges selected Miss Indonesia as the winner, followed by Miss Thailand (1st runner-up) & Miss Vietnam (2nd runner-up).

In addition to the winners, following were announced as the Top 15 Best Eco Dress finalists –

Prior to the Eco Dress Competition, the contestants were scrutinized through an interview session. Each delegate participated at the preliminary interview in front of the judges. The panel of judges spent time with the girls to know more about them. The key focus of the judges was on the poise, confidence and communication skills of the contestants.

The contestants have been occupied with various activities, ever since the starting of the pageant. From Press Conference to physical challenge to Talent and Fitness Competition, the girls have competed through all the rounds to reach the finale.

On their arrival, the delegates were welcomed with a Press Conference. Various media personalities attended the conference and the girls got a chance to interact with each other and express themselves in front of the media. Miss ECO International is an international beauty contest held in Egypt and founded by Prof. Amaal Rezk's LTCP Organization “BEAUTY FOR ECO”.

Mah Meri, the Orang Asli of Malaysia

The Orang Asli are the indigenous minority peoples of Peninsular Malaysia. The name is a Malay term which transliterates as ‘original peoples’ or ‘first peoples’. It is a collective term introduced by anthropologists and administrators for the (officially) 18 ethnic subgroups generally classified for official purposes under Negrito, Senoi and Proto-Malay. They numbered 178,197 in 2010 representing a mere 0.6 per cent of the national population (28 million). This National Costume is inspired by the Mah Meri. The Mah Meri are of the Senoi subgroup. The main highlight of this costume is the mask. Each decorative mask has its own story associated with it relating to its origin or ‘moyang’ resembling an animal, humans and spirit. Mah Meri also have their own special use in traditional healing (sakat buang) and ceremonial dances (Joh and Tengkeng). Most of the members of the Mah Meri tribe live along the coast of South Selangor from Sungai Pelek up to Pulau Carey, although there is at least one Mah Meri Community on the other side of the Klang River in Selangor State of Malaysia. Most of the Mah Meri live in small villages (kampungs) on the fringes of other cities and on Pulau Carey.
