ETCM initiates a service campaign

for 4 units x-trail

kuala lumpur (15 April 2013) – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, Japan recently announced a global recall for the Nissan Cube, X-Trail, Maxima and Teana that were manufactured from August 2000 to January 2004 involving a total of 480,000 units of these vehicles. This recall was to check and, if necessary, replace the potential faulty front passenger air bag inflator for these models.

Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM), the sole distributor and assembler of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia wish to inform that only four CBU (Completely Build-Up) units of Nissan X-TRAIL were affected by this global recall. The CKD (Complete Knocked-Down) units were not affected by this recall.

This recall was due to the incorrect propellant wafers with insufficient density installed in certain inflators of the front passenger’s air bag. This may cause the internal pressure of the inflator to rise excessively during air bag deployment.

As part of ETCM’s initiative, a service campaign is in progress to ensure and check, where necessary, the affected part(s) will be replaced for these four identified units.
