Sounds like my second son. Boleh pengsan kalau tergigit sayur!
In the beginning I gave him supplements Vit E & C. Because I was afraid he was lacking important nutrients. I made sure he drank Yakult everyday so that his bowels would move - he used to have constipation.
After trying various methods like the ones mentioned here - I gave up giving him vegetables.
So what I did was to introduce fruits to him. Thank God he loves fruits of all kind even durian! His favourite are lots - mangoes, jambu air, apples, oranges, pears, watermelon..... come to think of it I don't think there's any fruit that he doesn't like.
He's now 6 years old and still hates vegetables especially the green ones. But he takes spaghetti bolognaise which I make with lots of shredded carrots. Another method I use is to give him chicken soup made with lots of vege. When I serve him the soup I have to take out the vege but at least all the nutrients are already in the soup.
I read somewhere that vegetables especially the green leafy ones taste very bitter to children because their taste buds are still sensitve and not seasoned by eating various food.
Instead of making it a battle to serve vegetables, I find its better to relax and let my son enjoy the food he likes and give him fruits and supplements. Hopefully when he starts school next year and sees his friends eating vegetable he'll try it - same thing like my eldest son. He used to be picky eater but now he's game to try anything within reason.
It does get easier as they get older. ![](static/image/smiley/default/loveliness.gif) |
