Aku taknak elaborate sgt tentang Unit Trust Consultant sbb nie bukan thread yang sesuai..kalau nak tahu dengan lebih lanjut, pi thread aku..

Honestly, aku tak menyesal resign dpd consulting engineer. Boss aku komited aku boleh buat professional Ir in the future. tapi aku tak minat sbb aku cenderung pi business..bagi aku, tak kira la jadi consulting engineer ker, tetap makan gaji ajer kecuali buka firm sendiri.. tak puas hidup. Dulu sampai pernah tido office siapkan kerja design and report, sampai merah mata pandang plan.. akhir bulan dpt gaji sama jer. Yang hebatnya dr segi "taraf" dan "level" ajer

p/s; peringatan ikhlas kepada bakal graduan yang bakal bekerja dalam bidang kejuruteraan awam , choose consulting firm, jgn kerja ngan kontraktor..nanti sia2 ajer belajar kat U sbb kemahiran teori u all takkan di praktikkan dan akan hilang di telan masa

erm..aku keje as system n reporting consultant utk my company's marketing org..actually, this is a new role and aku pun tgh blaja gak so aku share je la pape yg aku taw..

the most challenging part about this job is u've gotta have broad knowledge..cam aku IT background, tapi dah keje under marketing org, segala function dalam bidang marketing aku kena taw cam pricing, product marketing, business intelligence..
kalau aku tak taw, camne aku nak propose new solution/process n tell ppl ape yg diorang wat selama nie salah or value add ciput je to the business..so keje consultant nie kena byk wat research lor

nie antara skillsets/ criterias required as a consultant(nie bukan ceduk dari buku tapi boss aku gitau mase 1 on 1 )

-negotiation skill. proving ppl they are wrong n u are right
-analytical skill
-discovery skill(kena pandai explore2)
-program management
-predictive skill
-neutral n cruel sometimes. tgk everything from a business point of view not personal..tak leh nak kesian kat org kalau ape yg ko propose leh sebabkan ramai org ilang kerja
-highly motivated
-broad knowledge..nie penting sgt..my boss forced me to read at least 5 management/ technical books per month..boring wo

aku keja kat consultant comp..tp aku admin exec je.. diorg kata diorg akan train jd consultant.. tatau la bila leh naik kan.. keja pun xsampai sebulan lg  kut2la diorg cuma bjanji manis je..hehe..

tp comp kecik je, aku xbniat nk stay lama..ada peluang lain, aku blah aa..

comp aku ni budak2 marketing yg jd consultant.. tulun org nk migrate.. tgk starting gaji pun best aa.. lom lg, kalu byk kontrak yg diorg dpt.. masyukk aa psl duit nih..adeh la..bila dia nk bg aku naik nih

Eee..dah lame nyer tak masuk thread ni... tetibe ternampak..n thanks for all the reply...

BTW i dah tak keje comp tuh gl skang. Lepas my HR tawarkan i jadik consultant.. i accept.. and the project was very fun and i was really into it. The big title is Implement Project Management Methodology in the XXXX project. Quite big la where the consulting fee for us for a year jerk dah RM5 million. I learn a lot during those day..sbb i mule dr start project lg till sign off..the last day. Byk dgt i belajar pasal project management flow yerla sbb i kan IT background and the project team pun best masa tuh.

Then selepas setahun...lepas project abeh... HR kene la masukkan kitorg ke project lain. Dan project yg i dapat sgtla 'i tak tau nak buat and takde idea langsung'. If im not mistaken.. project tuh berkaitan dgn cara2 nak meningkatkan taraf sosioekonomi org luar bandar dan menaiktarafkan kawasan luar bandar..ala2 cenggitula... dah bile dapat jerk project tuh... i dah rase mcm x best, sbb i tak reti, i takde idea, i tak suke n i know if org taknak berubah susah i nak tgk output project tuh.. sbb all this is about people. Consultant boleh bg idea, cadangan, strategic planning, outcome, impact... but if org kg tuh xnak berubah (mcm biasalakan) sure susah.Bile i dah x suke..i pun xde passion la nak buat keje, n i pun dah macam malas jerk nak gi keje.

Then... i carik keje lain n i quit...

I dpt offer. Consultant for project management in IT project. Lg puas hati aku. dah nak dekat setahun kt sini...I suke the job scope and salary pun much better dr dulu. I x pyh buat programming. I just deal ngan client, advice them what the best.. prepare the sys design .. n kerah developer2 yg buat... Setakat ni i ok la kt sini.. sbb each project, the output is tangible.. so i rase puas mcm tuh...

Btw.. i mmg suke consulting world... i plan to gain he knowledge as much as possible and become a good consultant..
