Kim Soo Hyun officially confirms Producers as his comeback drama by Vivi on Tue, Mar 03, 2015
It's official — Kim Soo Hyun will be returning to our screens this April with the upcoming KBS series Producers! This means that he will be working with Park Ji Eun, the writer of My Love from Another Star, in his first drama since that hit series ended in February 2014.
Gong Hyo Jin and IU are still considering their offers for the series, but with Kim Soo Hyun's confirmation, I would imagine they're more likely than ever to sign on for the show. Cha Tae Hyun has already confirmed his leading role, as well, meaning that we just need to wait for official acceptance from the leading ladies.
Producers will depict life behind the scenes of a variety show. In the series, Cha Tae Hyun and Gong Hyo Jin (if she accepts) will play ten-year veteran PDs, and Kim Soo Hyun will play a rookie PD on their team. The role currently offered to IU is an idol star who made her debut as a teenager and has the reputation of being an "ice princess."
Producers is shaping up to be on of the hottest dramas of the year, and we can't wait to see the final cast once it's all confirmed! The series will premiere mid-April on KBS. You can sign p for episode alerts HERE.
If you can't wait until April to see Kim Soo Hyun, you can re-live his last role in My Love from The Stars.

Why Did Kim Soo Hyun Choose 'Producer?'
Kim Soo Hyun recently confirmed his role in the upcoming KBS drama "The Producer." But until recently he was also considering a role in a supernatural MBC drama titled "Night Strolling Scholar."
It was a hard decision to make. Here are the pros for each drama and why he chose one over the other.
"Night Strolling Scholar" is an adaptation of a webtoon with the same title. In that historical fantasy drama he would play a handsome mysterious scholar who is also a vampire. His vampire character wanders through the Joseon-era palace until he meets a girl disguised as a bookseller. Viewers know that Kim Soo Hyun can excel at a historical drama because he was so good in "The Moon Embracing The Sun." And taking part in that drama would have reunited him with Lee Sung Joon, the director of the wildly successful "Moon Embracing The Sun." Lee also directed last year's hit "Empress Ki." The writer Jang Hyun Joo wrote "Coffee Prince."
And viewers also know that Kim Soo Hyun can excel at playing a paranormal character, as he was a compellingly romantic alien in "You Who Came From The Stars."
But then there is "Producer." This drama offers him a chance to reunite with his "Dream High" co-star singer-actress IU. According to Korea's Joongang Daily, IU has already committed to starring in that drama, although other sources say nothing is confirmed. Actor Cha Tae Hyun is also considering a role in the drama and the latest news is that popular actress Gong Hyo Jin may also be interested.
Gong has been offered the role of an arrogant veteran producer who likes to abuse the power that she has. Chae Tae Hyun will also play a producer and Kim Soo Hyun will play a law school student who switched careers to become a producer. IU will play a cool and aloof star, a character that cannot trust others.
The writer and director for this drama are also impressive. Park Ji Eun, who wrote the screenplay for "You Who Came From The Stars," is in charge of the script." The director Seo Soo Min has previously focused on popular variety shows such as "Superman Returns."
"Producer" is set to start filming in April. Since he finished appearing in the hit "You Who Came From The Stars," Kim Soo Hyun has been busy filming ads and participating in fan tours.

Gong Hyo-jin considers Producer opposite Cha Tae-hyun by girlfriday | March 2, 2015 | 157 Comments
I love it. This drama is doing so many things right, and it’s not even on the air yet. Producer, the new KBS drama from the writer of You From Another Star, is courting Gong Hyo-jin (It’s Okay, It’s Love) to complete the leading cast. If she signs on, she’ll play opposite Cha Tae-hyun, which would totally make my day (so far he’s the only one locked in to star; Kim Soo-hyun and IU are still considering their offers). They’d make one hell of a foursome, so everyone start calling in your karma points and doing your rain dances.
Gong Hyo-jin has been offered the role of a 10-year veteran variety PD, which puts her in the same starting year as Cha Tae-hyun’s character. She was a wide-eyed young innocent when she first entered the variety division of the television network, but has now become a hardened, contentious survivor. She’s smart and haughty, but also has a bumbling streak which lessens the overall effect of her arrogant demeanor.
Her character’s got a chip on her shoulder because of having been alienated in the past, so it leads her to be a bit childish, namely by trying to use her programs to showcase the extent of her power. She’s so prideful that she says whatever is on her mind, whether it’s in front of the department head or the director of the network.
Cha Tae-hyun will also play a veteran PD, while Kim Soo-hyun is being courted to play a rookie PD who ditched law school and came to television in the name of love. IU is considering a role as a top star, an ice princess who’s been burned too many times to trust anyone.
Writer Park Ji-eun (You From Another Star) is penning, and star variety PD Seo Soo-min (Superman Returns, 1 Night 2 Days Season 3) will be at the helm. I was already excited about the new series, but Gong Hyo-jin is one of my favorite actresses, so obviously I’ll be over the moon to see her being charming and funny next to Cha Tae-hyun. Fingers crossed.
Producer is hoping to start shooting this month for an April broadcast, tentatively on Fridays and Saturdays beginning April 17.
