Many Alphard / Vellfire owners ask the same question:
“Why does my brake make a click click sound at low speed or on uneven roads?”
The truth is — this is very common, and in most cases, it is not a serious fault.
The Real Reason Behind the Noise
From factory, the original brake caliper design does NOT include a damping ring.
Over time, the caliper pin develops extra clearance due to normal usage.
When driving slowly, braking lightly, or passing over bumps,
this small gap can cause a light metal tapping sound.
✅ Our Improved Solution
At MD AUTO, we use an upgraded caliper pin with an added damping ring to:
Reduce excessive clearance
Stabilise caliper movement
Minimise metal-to-metal contact
Improve brake quietness and consistency
Long-term advantage:
After the initial upgrade, only the damping ring needs replacement in the future,
no need to redo the entire setup — more cost-effective over time.
Is This Your Issue?
If your Alphard or Vellfire experiences:
Light clicking sound at low speed
Noise when braking slowly
Sound over uneven road surfaces
It may simply be a caliper pin clearance issue, not a damaged brake system.
