The members of Remioromen have been together for nearly a decade, but next year they will finally do their first actual theme song for a television drama series. Their new tune "Kachou Fuugetsu" has been chosen as the theme of TV Asahi's "Angel Bank ~ Tenshoku Dairinin," which starts on January 14.
Remioromen has done a few movie theme songs and commercial tie-ins, but not yet a drama theme song. However, they grew popular in 2005 when "Konayuki" and "Sangatsu Kokonoka" ("3/9") were both used as insert songs in the hit drama "1 Litre of Tears."
Starring Kyoko Hasegawa (31), "Angel Bank" is based on the sequel to Norifusa Mita's "Dragon Zakura" manga, which was turned into a drama in 2005. Hasegawa is playing same character that she played in "Dragon Zakura," though the two stories are only loosely connected.
Remioromen's song "Kachou Fuugetsu" is scheduled to begin digital distribution on January 13. No CD release has been decided for it yet.
