~Tokyo DOGS~

The drama is tentatively titled Tokyo DOGS~ Saiaku de Saikou no Partner~. (The Worst and Best of Partners). Oguri Shun's first appearance in a Getsu 9 drama (Fuji TV, Mondays at 9) sees him playing the role of an elite detective of NY police. Mizushima Hiro is an officer from the Special Investigations Unit of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Yoshitaka Yuriko is a mysterious woman who holds the key to their case. The new Getsu 9 will be a perfect balance of serious moments and comedy.

When he was in elementary school, Takakura Sou (Oguri Shun, unsure of name reading) saw his father killed right in front of his eyes. Since then, he has been haunted by his past and moved to NY as a detective with the determination of one day arresting his father's murderer. He is well-skilled in military training but shows lack of flexibility. When it comes to work, he is calm and disciplined. By nature, he is a kind and gentlemanly character.

On the other hand, Kudo Maruo (Mizushima Hiro, ditto with name reading) rose from delinquency and is an expert in all forms of martial art such as karate, judo and taekwondo. Hotblooded and passionate, his interest is goukon (group dates). Their characters, investigations methods and taste in women are completely different. How this unlikely pair met, was through a case one day...

The stage is NY. Takakura found himself caught up in a big narcotic syndicate while pursuing his father's killer. The elite detective is put in charge of the operation, with close to 100 people under his command. Kudo Maruo is one of those who came to assist from Japan. At the place where the incident took place, a single woman, Matsunaga Yuki (Yoshitaka Yuriko) who knows the root of the case is left behind... However, due to extreme shock, she has lost her memory. Takakura continues his investigation in Japan, working together with Kudo and with Yuki close by. As her memory returns, the painful past returns and strains the relationship among the three of them. On the one hand, there is the 'detective side' that must continue investigating the case. On the other hand, there are the different viewpoints and also emotions coming into play...

Synopsis

Takakura So witnessed his father's murder at a young age. Pledging to catch the killer, he grows up to become an elite cop in New York City, where the criminal lives. His character is cool-headed and disciplined, yet adapts well. Because of major drug dealings, he gets sent to Tokyo to conduct a joint investigation with the Japanese police. There, he gets teamed up with, Kudo Maruo, a detective from a special investigative division. Kudo is a hot-blooded fighting expert due to his earlier days as a delinquent, but he makes a strong impression with his stylish appearance and is always interested in going on group dates. His personality, interests, and investigation methods are completely mismatched with Takakura's, but the two somehow work together to crack the case they've been given.

Additional cast announcement for "Tokyo DOGS"

Fuji TV has announced more cast details for its upcoming drama series "Tokyo DOGS," which stars Shun Oguri and Hiro Mizushima as a pair of detectives with mismatching personalities.

It was already revealed last month that the main cast consists of Oguri, Mizushima, and actress Yuriko Yoshitaka. Oguri plays Sou Takakura, an elite detective from the New York police force, while Mizushima plays Maruo Kudo, a former delinquent who has become part of a special investigative division with the Japanese police. Yoshitaka is filling the heroine role as a mysterious woman who is the key to the case at hand.

The newly announced cast members include Tomokazu Miura as Takakura's boss and Yoshiko Tanaka as Takakura's mother. Nene Otsuka plays the section chief of the special investigative division, while Ryo Katsuji, Mikihisa Azuma, and Kotaro Shiga play fellow detectives. Rie Tomosaka, Asami Usuda, Takuya Yoshimura, and Kensei Mikami have also been cast on the show.

"Tokyo DOGS" will air on Monday nights at 9:00pm. The series begins in October.

EXILE does "Tokyo DOGS" theme

Popular group EXILE has been chosen to do the theme song for the drama series "Tokyo DOGS," which premieres next month. The song is a ballad titled "Futatsu no Kuchibiru."

This will be EXILE's first time providing a main theme for Fuji TV's Monday night drama time slot, though their debut single "Your eyes only" was used as an insert song in 2001's "Dekichatta Kekkon." For "Tokyo DOGS," they will also do an insert song.

"Futatsu no Kuchibiru" will be released as a double A-side with "THE GENERATION" on November 11.
