Even though many families are now separated into nuclear families, 慺amily?has its root in the large family structure. This drama is about a journey; the journey of a nuclear family changing back to a large family. While talking about families of these days, "The Road Home" also questions about the true meaning of happiness.

Originally Yoo Min Soo was supposed to be portrayed by Yoon Sang Hyun, however, he backed out of the drama. His replacement was reportedly Uhm Ki Joon, but he also backed out. Han Sang Jin was chosen afterwards, but he was only considered and Shim Hyung Tak is the final decision.
