Kalo older kids, senang sikit nak ajar. Parents aku buat kat dulu, besides our allowances, kalo mintak duit, mmg payah depa nak bagi. So kalo kita org nak extra money, parents aku akan suruh kita buat chores kat rumah. Mcm cuci kereta, sapu, mop rumah...cenggitulah. Barulah kita org appreciate duit tu...coz duit titik peluh sendiri lah katakan. |

ari tu norsha tengok program 1,2,3 dutch lady tu..
dia ajar cara2 nak bagi anak2 tau value of money..
dia suggest kita bawak anak kita ke grocery store and tell ur kid yg u ada banyak ni jer duit (eg Rm20)..so, ask her untuk beli barang tapi kena within that budget, ask her/him to check sendiri price barang2 yg dia ambik..
tu tips kat program tu la..norsha lum la try to my kids.. sb my hubby cakap, takkan work nya on my doter... |

Anak2 aku kecik lagik. Tapi aku nak make sure when they start primary school, they must realize that mak bapak diorang bukan cop duit and they learn to value hard work to get money...slow & steady la...i wont force it.
I think good money habits kena start young. So doing what lmokhtar & norsha suggested is good I guess.
Apa yg aku nak try is: ajar anak2 aku save certain amount of money every year...if they achieve or exceed target, then they get a reward...something like that lahh...effective or not, dunno lah.. |

this is exactly the same how my parents taught me
cumanya my dad accountant
dia ajar simple book keeping since kecik lagi
dalam bilik we all (me and sis) ada satu white board bahagi dua -1 side me and the other my sis
and then in my portion, dia akan bahagi 2 lagi
for example, duit masuk dia ajar tulis belah kanan
and then beli apa2 tulis belah kiri
every day dia akan check
both what has been written and also what is left from our allowance
i started this from as young as 7yrs old
pehtu every month my mom akan bawak kitorang pegi bank
isi form sendiri
pegi sendiri kat kaunter
masukkan duit (my mom will double the amount - kata la save 5 ringgit, she will add another 5)
pehtu compare2 la me and adik on saper lagik byk duit
pehtu duit raya pun sama
kedekut yg amat
so that boleh save and masukkan dalam bank
and then kalo nak beli barang my mom akan cakap "kita kuarkan duit savings ok"
not because she kedekut or what but want me to appreciate the things that we buy
like me bought my first beskal bmx katora (wuiyoh, bangga seh sebab duit sendiri)
i think dalam RM300 cenggitu la
my mom cuma sponsor separuh, and separuh lagi me kuarkan sendiri duit (with mom's help of kos)
hari2 cuci beskal, tak kasi orang pinjam.. ye la kan, duit sendiri
and then bila dah besar sket dia caj phonecalls
bila masuk boarding school kengkawan dah "nasional" sket
ada yg kat kedah, perak dsb
so bila call diorang, everymonth my mom akan check itemised billing and kalo ada nombor2 yg tak sepatutnya dia akan query
if it is our dia akan tolak duit allowance
now alhamdulillah
cik dee jadi accountant (i wonder where it all comes from ) |

At one point anak aku ingat duit syiling lebih besar value dari duit kertas. Everytime gi kedai dia mesti seronok bila tokey tu pulangkan balik belen duit siling banyak-banyak. Bagi dia bila kita pegi kedai, kita akan dapat duit! Jenuh gak nak membetulkan konsep baki lebih duit jual beli! |
