The jiangshi, also known as a Chinese hopping vampires, is a type of undead creature found in Chinese folklore. It is typically depicted as a "stiff corpse" dressed in official garments from the Qing Dynasty. Due to their stiffness, they can't walk, run, or even talk. They are described as having pale skin, long fingernails, and sharp teeth. The jiang shi are commonly said to come out at night. For sustenance and to grow more powerful, they will draining the life force of a humans. During the day, these vampires rests in a coffin or hides in a dark cave.
However, humans are not completely defenseless against these creatures. Typical weaknesses of a Chinese vampire are the blood of a black dog, a wooden sword made from a peach tree, chicken eggs, glutinous rice, and the urine of a virgin boy. Jiangshi legends have inspired a genre of jiangshi films and literature in Hong Kong and East Asia.
