China's world famous landmarks like the Great Wall and army of terracotta soldiers draw millions of visitors a year but the Middle Kingdom has another drawcard that is equally breath-taking despite being largely unknown. The Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park in the nation's northwestern Gansu province has one of the most unique landscapes in the world. The combination of coloured sandstone and minerals pressed together over 24 million years have created an awe-inspiring rainbow mountain range. Also with the recent addition of walkways to traverse the picturesque mountains it is slowly becoming a tourist magnet for Zhangye.
