Master Fuad Koichi Honda, The Japanese Muslim who brought life to the Arabic calligraphy. Fuad Koichi Honda, native Japanese Muslim, born in Tokyo 1946, a Professor at Daito Bunka University in Japan, known round the world as one of the world’s top contemporary Arabic calligraphers. He has won many awards for his work, including the International Arabic Calligraphy Contest. His most famous works of calligraphic art use passages from the Qur'an as their basis. Master Fuad Honda says: “I started learning Arabic forty years ago. Reading the Qur'an in Arabic inspired me to create artworks with calligraphy as their central motif. Later I embraced Islam in order to better feel the essence of this faith and to feel God. My works are a Japanese style of expressing Islam and Islamic culture". In the 1980’s, Master Fuad spent three years leading mineral surveys in the deserts of Saudi Arabia, and when he returned to Japan, he says, “The beauty of the sand dunes and the calligraphy combined together in myself.” This is a collection of his works.
