themalaysianinsider.com Home Ministry appoints new Special Branch director effective today - The Malaysian Insider Malaysia Published: 28 July 2015 1:12 PM The Home Ministry has appointed Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun as the new Special Branch director to replace Datuk Seri Akhil Bulat who has retired at the age of 62.
Mohamad Fuzi (pic, left) was previously Royal Malaysian Police Management Department director.
Akhil was on a year-to-year contract after exceeding the retirement age.
His contract ends on August 17 and he is currently on three weeks’ retirement leave.
Akhil had been in the police force for 38 years.
He began his career as a police inspector in the Special Branch in 1978 and spent his whole career in the department.
Speaking from Glasgow, Scotland, Akhil said that it is time for him to retire to focus on the family.
"I want to rest and travel. Maybe start a business," said Akhil when contacted this afternoon. – July 28, 2015.
