100 Petani Cina Dihalau TT India

    GOPENG: SOME 100 farmers are determined to continue to occupy and do business on  a 12ha site in Mukim Sungai Raya here, despite being told on Monday to move out.
They had cried foul when they were served an eviction notice in mid-July by the trustee of the land,  which had demanded that they vacate the site.
The land is owned by Perak Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PICC).
The 6ha of land had been shared between six farm operators since 2004.
Five of the operators are fish breeders with a total of45 fish ponds. They rear ornamental fish and tilapia. One grows lime trees in an orchard.
One of the affected farmers, Chan Wan Sing, 50, whose fish farming is a family business, claimed the trustee had used intimidation to make them move out.
“The trustee started destroying portions of the land with tractors two days after we received the letter of demand back in July.
“They even called us on the telephone and used abusive language to make us leave. They do not want to negotiate with us,” said Chan, adding that he had applied for a temporary occupational licence in 2011 but had not received a reply from the land authority.
The farmers, he added, wished to negotiate the matter with the land owner.
“Every month, we make a profit of RM7,000 from exporting fish to Singapore.
“If you ask us to move to another piece of land, it might not be suitable for fish farming,  which requires water from the hills that is easily available here,” said Chan.
Another farmer, Sum Chee Leong, 65, claimed the trustee of the land had set fire to his orchard, causing him to lose RM10,000 on his 0.4ha site, last week.
At their wits’ end, the group has appealed to Gopeng MP Dr Lee Boon Chye for help.
Lee said the farmers’ plea should be considered.
“We hope the state government will provide these farmers with land nearby to encourage the state’s agriculture sector to grow.
“We also hope the matter can be solved amicably between PICC and the farmers. The farmers have asked for compensation to vacate the land,” he said.
Meanwhile, PICC president M. Kesavan said they had tried contacting the farmers five times after the eviction notice was served to discuss the matter, but had not received a response.
“We urge them to come forward so we can talk,” he said.

Aku pun heran sejak bila plak tanah yg ditumpang sekian lama petani cina tiba tiba jadi milik pemegang amanah india.

Jangan jangan kerajaan negeri bagi kat PICC lepas PRU13 tahun lepas tak ? Sebagai ganjaran menyokong BN.
Boleh kata serampang dua mata gak. Memberi balasan baik kepada india & balasan tak baik kepada cina

Sbb tu rule of thumb, dalam mana2 tanah yg kita miliki, jgn benarkan org menumpang di situ sampai diorg boleh 'upgrade' taraf hidup mereka. Contohnya, org yg menumpang tu mampu renovate rumah, mampu beranak banyak, mampu beli kereta etc. Once diorg dah mampu upgrade, maka halaulah mereka seawal mgkin. Takut nanti bila dah lama2, mereka akan tuntut hak itu hak ini.
