Mother Leaves Kids Inside Hot Car to Get a Haircut; Shoppers Smash Windows to Save ThemIt's a rhetorical question, but how many children have to suffer and even die in overheated cars for parents to stop leaving them inside their vehicles unattended? It’s baffling if you think about it, yet it happened again and this time, it was recorded on film when a mother allegedly left her two children locked inside a Jeep Wrangler at a Texas strip mall.

Passing shoppers heard the cries of the little boy and girl coming from inside the hot Jeep Monday afternoon and immediately took action to free them.

"It was a crazy situation," shop owner Gabriel Del Valle, who shot the video, told KHOU news. "The kids were in there crying. I mean you would understand. It’s real hot."

Del Valle said that the shoppers had a hard time getting into the car and were forced to use a hammer to break one of the windows.

“And even then they could barely open the doors because there was a child lock on," he said. "Kids were in the crying. Even a dog can die, so imagine a person…”

The unnamed mother of the children allegedly left her children inside to get a haircut. According to Del Valle, when she came out and realized what had happened, she "pleaded with everyone and said she had made a terrible mistake".

Fortunately, the children were unharmed.

"After she left people wanted to call the cops, but we said, no, she made a mistake, you've got to learn from your mistakes," Del Valle told reporters. "You don’t know the situation she’s under, you know, she could be a single mom or something," he said.
