NEW DELHI, Feb 23 (Bernama) - Malaysia is intensifying efforts to promote tourism in India as the arrival of tourists from the South Asian country shows an encouraging growth trend.
In the latest campaign to attract visitors from India, a total of 39 Malaysian exhibitors participated in the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) exhibition in the Greater Noida area near New Delhi.
Among those participating in the event which took place from 22 to 24 February, included tour operators, the Malaysian Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Selangor Tourism, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts and Legoland Malaysia Resort.
An eight-day Malaysian food festival was also launched on Thursday at a hotel here.
"The visa exemption policy for Indian passport holders this year remains the main focus of our tourism promotion campaign," said Tourism Malaysia Deputy Director in New Delhi, Akmal Aziz.
Earlier this month, Malaysia hosted a week-long food and culture festival and participated in the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) exhibition in Mumbai.
Tourism Malaysia also held promotional events in Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad, between 11 and 19 February to strengthen Malaysia's image as a leading holiday destination in Asia.
"Thousands of travel agents visited our booth at OTM and came to the roadshow this month," said Akmal.
