All aboard the bicycle train

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM Bhd is now offering trains for special charters to cater to cyclists and any other type of recreational activity. It has launched its maiden familiarisation trip for the media and tourism players to excite them about the possibility of using KTM trains for cross-country cycling trips.
Called the Ekpres Koc Basikal (XKB), the special train left the Kuala Lumpur train station here at dawn to bring nearly 150 participants to Tanjung Malim, Perak, along with their full-sized bicycles.The train arrived in Tanjung Malim at about 8.30am yesterday, after which the participants eagerly explored the town on their bicycles.
KTM’s chief corporate officer Suhaimi Yaacob said that since cycling was the “in thing” nowadays, XKB could help facilitate cross-country cycling trips, especially those outside the Klang Valley.
“By taking our train, they can explore locations further away from home safely as they will not tire themselves out too much by cycling vast distances,” he said before flagging off the event here.
“XKB is also KTM’s support for the Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat, which aims to uplift the health status of Malaysians through participation in wholesome activities.”

XKB features a passenger train cabin that has been fully converted with the seats ripped out to make space for about 60 full-sized bicycles.There are three coaches for this purpose, all with additions to enable bicycles to be transported upright in a secure manner. Cyclists sit in a separate air-conditioned coach with a seating capacity for 60.
KTM said it had several specially outfitted coaches available for rent, including those for sightseeing, buffets, conferences and even a special saloon coach with a full-sized bed and private bathroom.
They can be added to any private charter train trip in various configurations based on the client’s request.
KTM said XKB’s rental price depended on which line it would run on and the distance to be covered.
KTM conducted a survey involving 10,657 respondents in March and November last year to gain their thoughts on XKB.

Bila peak hours, setiap koc jadi sendat dengan ramai penumpang inikan pula nak sediakan koc khas utk letak basikal |

Setujuuu...tah apa apa top management ktmb.ni...aiii suspect ada lar tu geng basikal kat top management tuh.....Cuba lar tgk Cara utk tambah frekuensib ETS Tu...  manjang penuhhh je...dah bertahun tahun dah nih..takkan xde solution lagi....
Kalau x tau nak bg solution...ni aii nak bagi...byk bykkan lah trip dari bandar besar ke bdr besar...takyah nak buat trip dari kl central to pdg besar....buat je kl central to Ipoh..Ipoh to kl central...then buat dari Ipoh to Butterworth..bttwrth to ipoh..then Butterworth to Alor setar...alor setaq to butterworth...next alorsetar ke pdd besar ...pdf besar to alorsetar..Guna rail yg Sama Dan x share dgn kenderaan lain...pasti ramai yg boleh travel kann...xdelah nak bersesak sesak kat highway...

Ok la klau mmg majority or half guna beskal. Ni lane beskal pon xde. Kt malaysia ni nk buat kena buat berbumbung, lampu kena terang. I suka je klau dpt nek beskal + lrt/ktm. Jimat masa. Tp mcm too late for malaysia. Perancangan dari awal xde |
