15 Beautiful Quarantine-Free Countries Malaysians Can Now Travel To
Malaysia Finally Lifts Interstate And International Travel Ban

As the nation's vaccination rate hit 90%, the Malaysian government finally announced the lifting of interstate and international travel restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals from October 11 onwards.
While the country's borders remain closed to incoming tourists, Malaysians that are fully vaccinated are now allowed to travel abroad for leisure again after not being able to hop on an international flight for over a year.

Before you purchase your flight tickets, take note of these freshly-announced international travel SOPs:
Fully vaccinated individuals can travel abroad from 11 October onwards without needing to apply for a MyTravelPass permit.
Travellers have to undergo 2 swab tests before re-entering Malaysia - once before flying back and once upon arrival.
Travellers have to quarantine for 7 days upon arrival back in Malaysia, self-quarantine at home is allowed.
While Malaysians are now allowed to travel overseas, different countries have different travel restrictions, with many requiring travellers to conduct a Covid 19 swab test
prior to departure.

1. Thailand
The Land of Smiles is one of the first countries in Asia to reopen to fully vaccinated travellers. For now, tourists can travel to Phuket under the Phuket Sandbox scheme and will even be allowed to travel to other cities in Thailand from there after staying in Phuket for at least 7 nights. Who's excited for authentic tom yum, pad thai, and Thai massages?
[Update, 22 Oct] The authorities of
announced on 21 October that they will be reopening their borders to international travellers from 46 countries (including Malaysia!) starting 1 November 2021. The destinations that will reopen include popular cities and islands such as Bangkok, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Krabi, Koh Chang, and several districts in Chiang Mai. Click

2. Singapore

The Prime Ministers of
and Malaysia announced in a joint statement on 8 November (Monday) that the countries will be launching the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) from 29 November onwards, paving way for quarantine-free air travel between the two countries. The first phase of quarantine-free travel between Singapore and Malaysia will only be allowed for travels via flight between the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Changi Airport. 3. United Kingdom
Fancy spending Christmas in London? The United Kingdom has opened its borders to travellers from most countries with the exception of countries and territories listed on their red list.
If you're planning a trip to the UK, you will have to pre-book a COVID-19 test to be taken by the end of your day 2 in England and complete a passenger locator form before flying off.
Also, do note that the UK does not currently recognize the Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccine.

4. Canada
Canada has also reopened its borders to travellers who have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine accepted by the country. Accepted vaccines include the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine - do note that the Sinovac vaccine (as well as a few others) is currently not accepted in Canada. Travellers will have to provide proof of a negative PCR Test taken at most 72 hours before departure.

5. Switzerland

The dramatic landscapes and snow-covered mountains of Switzerland are waving at you! The borders of Switzerland are now open to all international travellers - even those who are not vaccinated can travel here upon submission of a negative PCR Test. Fully vaccinated travellers will simply have to present your proof of vaccination and an entry form upon arrival.

6. France

Ready to explore dreamy fairytale castles, scenic villages, and picturesque streets? France is now open to fully vaccinated travellers with no quarantine restrictions! All you have to do is provide proof of your vaccination status and apply for a Covid Health Pass.
Hands up if you're ready to have croissants for breakfast before spending a magic-filled day at Paris Disneyland!

7. United Arab Emirates (UAE)
The UAE opened its borders to vaccinated international tourists in August this year.
Travellers from Malaysia do not have to undergo quarantine as long as you produce a negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival.

8. The Maldives
Beach and ocean lovers, you'll love this one. The Maldives is currently open to visitors from all destinations as long as you present proof of a negative Covid 19 Swab Test taken no more than four days prior to your arrival.
Thanks to the isolation of most hotels in the Maldives, travellers can easily enjoy a peaceful vacation away from crowds here.

9. Nepal
Nepal currently welcomes both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers. The country has lifted quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated travellers as of September 24, but you will have to present proof of a negative Covid 19 PCR Test
taken at most 72 hours before departure and take an on-arrival antigen test before being allowed to begin your adventures.

10. Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has also reopened its borders to fully vaccinated travellers this year. Travellers can enjoy a quarantine-free trip as long as you present a printed negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at most 72 hours before departure (or a negative antigen test taken at most 48 hours before departure).

11. Turkey
Turkey is another country that is currently open for tourism. Those who are not vaccinated will have to present results of a negative Covid 19 PCR Test, while fully vaccinated travellers will simply have to present their vaccination certificate to be allowed entry.
Do note that you will have to fill up a Traveler Entry Form online at least 4 days before arrival in Turkey.

12. Egypt
Up for an exotic adventure in the great land of mummies and pyramids? Egypt is currently open to incoming travellers - all you have to do is fill up a Health Care Declaration Form before arrival. Fully vaccinated tourists are exempt from testing and quarantine requirements, while unvaccinated travellers must submit a negative PCR Test report taken at most 72 hours before departure.

13. Mauritius

After over a year of border closures, Mauritius reopened its borders to international travellers in July this year. Vaccinated tourists will have to arrange for COVID-19 insurance health coverage as well as take a Covid 19 Swab Test upon arrival and on day five of your stay.
If you're unvaccinated, you can also travel here but will have to stay at an official quarantine hotel for 14 days before you're free to explore the island.

14. Iceland

Up for a romantic, otherworldly adventure? Dreamy Iceland currently welcomes travellers of all origins as long as you're fully vaccinated, have completed a pre-registration form online, and present a negative PCR or rapid antigen test result. Once you've flashed all the necessary documentation, you can be on your way for a dip in the Blue Lagoon or a Northern Lights chase!

15. Ireland
Here's another dreamy destination that you can add to your travel list! Ireland was placed on one of the harshest lockdowns during the pandemic, which helped them effectively manage their cases better compared to other countries in Europe. They previously had a mandatory hotel quarantine restriction but lifted it in September, so vaccinated or recovered tourists can now travel here quarantine-free!
