New Scandal ? More Burden For Rakyat?

Folks I just heard this from the president of a well known consumer association in Subang Jaya. Changes are being proposed to the Road Transportation Act (the Pengangkutan thingy) whereby all owners of registered motor vehicles will be required to buy new car license number plates.

The new number plates will have some computer chip in it (to make the Government's job easier I suppose). Here is the catch.
1. We will still have to pay the old Road Tax, get the Road Tax sticker etc.
2. The "monopoly" to issue these new number plates will be given to two new companies (most likely crony companies - because they were not chosen by open tender or highest bidder for the concession).

There are about 20 million registered vehicles in this country (cars, buses, lorries, motorbikes etc). So 20 million x RM150 = RM3.0 Billion.

This seems to be the scale of cronyism nowadays - its always in the Billions, no more in the millions.

So two lucky cronies will get the franchise to charge us RM150.00 per license plate.

Is this why Chrome Dome was recently appointed to head the suruhanjaya pengangkutan darat or something? There are Billions worth of 'concessions' to be given out.

Why burden the public even more? You are removing the subsides, the price of fuel, oil, flour, sugar is all going up. The Government wants to waste RM800 million to build a new Parliament building.

And we pay for all these subsidies - directly, especially the APs for the motorcars. A Honda CRV 2010 model costs RM150,000 here. In the US you can buy it for USD22,000 or about RM68,000 - slightly more than a Proton Waja.

Why are we paying such high prices for cars? Who gains? Not the rakyat. Now we are required to pay RM150.00 for our car license plates for the benefit of some cronies.

I say, nak menang ke atau tak nak menang PRU13? Or is this the season of pukul habis ? You know the politicians figure they are going to lose the next elections, so lets take as much as we can while we have the time. Zaman pukul habis.

And if you dont buy these new RM150.00 license plates, you can be fined RM300 or jailed up to 20 years (isnt it kind of excessive?). So kalau kroni tak boleh kaya, kita pula masuk penjara atau bayar denda RM3000. Banyak cantik ! !

The other amendment to the Road Transport Act is that all roads, tracks and footpaths in the country and in the jungle will now be classsified 'Government roads'. This means the Government will be responsible for their maintenance and upkeep.

But it also means that the new RM150.00 number plate law will be fully enforced.

Again to benefit cronies. What does the rakyat get? Why do I need a microchip in my number plate? I am doing fine with the old RM20.00 number plate. Why think up useless ways to burden the people?

aku macam nak setuju dgn idea ni. Mungkin dgn cara ni dapat membendung sikit sebanyak masalah kecurian kereta yg semakin menjadi2 kat malaysia ni. Sekarang ni no plat boleh dibeli dgn terlalu mudah, sama macam beli garam belacan aje. Tak ada sebarang info pun yang diminta semasa beli/buat no plat di kedai2, dan no plat ni pulak boleh diperolehi kat merata2 tempat/kedai. Ini sedikit sebanyak membantu pencuri kereta coz selalunya langkah pertama yg dilakukan oleh pencuri  kereta ialah menukar no plat (nota: andaian sahaja dan bukannya berdasarkan pengalaman sendiri).

Kalu proses untuk mendapatkan no plat sukar  ~ hanya boleh diperolehi dari agensi tertentu sahaja dan ada pula ciri2 keselamatan (chip), maka sedikit sebanyak akan menjadi penghalang kepada pencuri2 kereta.

Kes dimana org lain yg buat kesalahan had laju (atau lain2 kesalahan saman ekor) dgn pakai no plat palsu juga boleh diatasi (walaupun tak sepenuhnya) sebab kaki speed dah tak boleh senang2 tepek no plat kete lain masa nak merempit.

No plat berchip ni selalunya akan didaftarkan atas nama individu dan juga kereta. Oleh itu, kalu jual kereta maka kena serahkan no plat untuk dibatalkan. Manakala pembeli kete secondhand kena didaftarkan semula dgn no plat yg baru.

Atau, mungkin juga yg  diserahkan bila jkereta dijual ialah chip sahaja tanpa perlu menyerahkan no plat. Pembeli kereta terpakai kena dapatkan chip baru yg perlu dilekatkan di no plat.

Apa2 pun secara peribadi aku rasa ni langkah yang baik. Pasal bagi duit kat kroni tu, pasal rakyat yg terbeban tu....yg tu mmg tak baik Benda ni sepatutnya dilaksanakan secara percuma dan actually kosnya sudahpun diambilkira dlm fee pindah hakmilik yg  sedia ada dilaksanakan sekarang

klu dah mass produce sampai berjota jota, RM10 ke, RM15 ke logik gak... chip tu untuk scan mesti pakai radio frequency and chip tu ada transmitter... berapa sen je RF transmitter nih... campur battery bru brp ringgit je...

dan x logik klu pasang chip tu kat license plat... patut pasang kat chasis la... bongok betul... so klu chip transmit nombor x sama dgn license plate, baru bleh tau nombor tu betul atau palsu.. kene pncuri kete pasang no. plate yg berchip yg dicuri dr kete lain, cmne tu? no and no. plate sama sedangkan kete tu lain? bongok dan tahap babun dayus betul...

kang klu plat no. jatuh, nak kene fork out another RM150? bengong ke mangkuk?

klu betul bangang2 otak sejemput kt atas tu buat cmni, confirm la pasni PRU kalah teruk... bahlol x brtempat...

aku tak paham la.. apasal chip tuh mesti dkt no plet.... takleh tanggal langsung ker boh kat plet tuh?.... pencuri.. penyangak mesti tau cip kat no plet.....

chip tuh patut kat tempat rahsia..... baru ler leh trace keta curi....

dan apakah sbb utama guna chip tuh....? senang bank nak tarik keta?..... kesan lokasi guna gps.....? trace no plet palsu? chek roadtax palsu? masih blur lagik aku.... yg nampak ada idea letak chip... cerita sbb dia tak clear lagik

sebelum buat mende ni....baik buat peraturan setiap no plet kenderaan daripada besi ( skrg ni semua nya plastik)....

reason : andai kata lah kenderaan tu hangus terbakar & rentung dgn indentiti driver sukar utk dikenalpasti dan no chasis kenderaan pun sukar untuk di kenalpasti untuk dimaklumkan kepada waris....dgn ada nya plet besi,kereta rentung sekalipun senang untuk dikenalpasti mangsa kemalangan tersebut...
